  • Eat Sleep Study Repeat!

    Funded Mar 29, 2022

Thank you so much to everyone who came together to make this project possible. I cannot tell you how much it means to be able to get these t-shirts for each one of our amazing AP students sitting an exam. To be able to highlight all the hard work that they have done and celebrate the end of an extremely challenging year means more than I can say.

Our students have gone through so much this year on top of taking challenging AP courses with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout all of it, they stayed focused and keep working towards that goal of the AP exam. To have them show up the day of their exam and surprise them with these t-shirts was an amazing experience. Their faces lit up when they saw these shirts just for them.

So thank you for making this experience possible for my students!”

  • Books in Need of Student Homes!

    Funded Mar 6, 2020

Thank you to all of the donors who came together during this project to support our students. It is through your donations that we have been able to supply students with their own individualized reading books. We truly want to see our students become fully independent and life long readers, and this is possible when we are able to tailor the reading supplies to every student, as we can with projects like this.

This project was fully funded right at the beginning of the pandemic. We were actually setting up to start giving books out to students right as the schools closed down in March. Through determination and some creative problem solving, we were finally able to get every single book into the hands of each student who had ordered them. Although some deliveries took quite a long time, it was worth it to know that every student was able to receive a book just for them. I have been able to learn so much about my students through this project, and it has definitely started some students on the path to reading outside of school, which is more than I could have ever hoped. Thank you so much one and all for making this project such a rousing success for my students. It has been truly very appreciated.”

  • Building Friendships Through Games

    Funded Feb 4, 2020

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to come together and support this project. It means so much that people would come together without prompting to support my students. They deserve so much, and it is through projects like these that they are shown that there are people out in the world who care about them and their school experiences. We have been able to have these games out and about in class and during free time and celebration events. Because of that they are able to be played with and enjoyed by a variety of students of all grades. We are so glad that we are able to supplement their learning experiences with fun experiences as well, and thanks to your support, this is possible. Thank you all so very much”

  • Personal Books for Personal Reading

    Funded Mar 10, 2022

Thank you so much to everyone who came together to donate to this project. We were able to get a number of books for individual students through this project thanks to your support. One thing we always strive for is to have our students become life long readers, and that is hard when students do not have access to the books that they want to read. With projects like this one, we are able to fulfill students' specific wishes for titles and authors that they want to read.

We had so many boxes of books to unbox when the project got funded. It was extremely gratifying to get to give these books out to the individual students. They were so excited to get to actually receive them, and then get to read them as well. None of this would be possible without your support, so thank you so much!”

  • Warm our AP Student Spirits!

    Funded Dec 9, 2021

Thank you so much to everyone who came together to support this project and my students. It means a lot that you would want to support our classroom! Our students have gone through so much this year, and choosing to take an AP course on top of everything else says a lot about the character of my students. So being able to support and surprise them with these sweatshirts means a great deal to me. They were very excited to get to put them on, and started wearing them in the halls immediately. I am so glad that we were able to get everyone a sweatshirt and it's thanks to your support. Once again, thank you so much.”

  • Personalized Books for Home

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

Thank you so much for helping to support this wonderful project. Ever since this project was started, I have had students asking if they were really going to get their books, and when they would arrive. The day this got funded and I knew we were going to be able to hand out those new books was amazing.

Getting the chance to call students in and surprise them with books that they had chosen for themselves was wonderful. They are all so excited, and ready to read them because got to choose what they read. From nonfiction, to classics, to manga each book was the perfect fit for each student. To see them walking around school with their books is such a treat.

You have made so many students so incredibly happy with your support. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your help.”

  • Breathe Easy & Safely

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

I just wanted to say thank you so much to each individual who helped make this project a success. At the beginning of September, we really had no idea what in person learning was going to look or feel like with Covid still a daily part of our lives. By helping this project, you helped add a layer of safety and security to the minds of students and family members.

By helping fill this project, you allowed for a large room air purifier to be added to our school community. With a classroom full of multiple, large groups of students, being able to filter and circulate the air in a room multiple times in an hour is very important, and with this addition of this device, we are able to do so. It helps give me peace of mind knowing that we are doing everything possible to keep my students safe while they are learning in my classroom. So once again, thank you so much for helping me to fulfill this project for my students.”

  • Individualized School Supplies for School & Remote Use

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

What an incredible year this has been. My students have been through so much this school year - from starting off in the building, to going remote, to coming back to hybrid learning by the end. Through all of these challenges, they have tried their best to put on a brave face and do the best learning they can with the circumstances handed to them. And fulfilling this project made it just one step easier for them.

Every time a new student came into my classroom, it was amazing to be able to set them up with their own notebook and other materials. With so much going on this school year, purchasing new school supplies was the bottom of everyone's priority list. So being able to surprise them with brand new stuff really made their day.

Thank you to everyone who helped come together and make this project something for my students to enjoy this year, when there was so much that was not enjoyable. Thank you!”

  • Warm Our AP Student Bodies and Spirits!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

This year has been a challenging one to say the least. There have been so many ups and downs, changes to schedules and school buildings and so much more. But through it all, my AP Environmental Science students stuck with it - through changes to school days, remote learning, and changes to lessons and materials. Even when their personal lives were hitting some major roadblocks, they showed their mettle this year. Being able to gift them these sweatshirts, so that they had access to a small tangible piece that showed their community and their efforts this year seems small, but it really made a wold of difference to them during this school year. They were so surprised when these went out in the mail and were delivered personally to each and every one of them. Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of making this project a success for my students. It really means so much to all of us.”

  • Books, Books, Books!

    Funded Feb 21, 2020

WOW! It was such fantastic news to see that this project got funded, and so quickly too! These books have been a fantastic addition to our classroom library, and have brought many diverse and creative perspectives to my students.

Some of my students have already started reading these books. One of my students just started reading Tempests and Slaughter, and is really enjoying it. He is not a student who normally reads a lot on his own, so this is a great change of pace. Others of my students are using the Player's Handbook to help create some dynamic fantasy characters to use in their creative writing projects in the future. They have become very invested in their characters, starting to figure out what character traits and quirks are important to them, as well as their backstories and history.

Without these materials, my students would not be engaging in such creative pursuits. Thank you for donating and making this project a reality for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paradise

I am a science teacher at a Title I school in lower Manhattan serving a diverse and dedicated student body. Our school community is 62% Hispanic, 28% Black, 5% are Asian, and 3% are White. Approximately 7% of our students are English Language Learners (ELLs) and 21% of students are students with Special Needs. My students commute from Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island to come to school each day; sometimes their trips are longer than an hour. Students come to us from difficult home situations, including separated families and homeless shelters, and over 85% of students receive free or reduced lunch. Although our students face many adversities, they are dedicated to their education and their academics. I want to do as much as I can for them inside the classroom to help them succeed.
