  • Environmental Change Starts With Us

    Funded Jan 17, 2025

Thank you so much to everyone who too the time to read about my classroom project and decided to donate to my classroom. I am so excited to be able to share these materials with my environmental science students in the second semester. These resources will go a long way towards allowing my students to really engage in creating new environmental habits and changes. Thank you.”

  • Environmental Science Students Want to Grow!

    Funded May 7, 2024

I wanted to say thank you for taking the time to read up on my classroom project and my students and donate to my classroom. It means so much to me that there are individuals out there who see what I am trying to do for my students and want to support that. This project allowed us to get planting materials so that my students could plant and take home seeds at the end of the school year. After a full year of learning about the importance of science in daily life, it was nice for students to have a tangible piece of that to take home at the end of the year. So thank you for making that possible.”

  • Its Getting Hot Out Here!

    Funded Apr 22, 2024

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read about my classroom and my students and deciding to help our project find success through your donations. Your donations to this project allowed us to buy multiple infrared thermometers for our classroom. With these infrared thermometers, my students were able to go outside and take real time temperature readings on multiple different surfaces once the weather turned warm. With these readings students were able to compare how different types of building materials and other outside surfaces can change the temperature of those surfaces. This would not have been possible without your support, so thank you so much for making it all possible.”

  • New Labs Need New Materials

    Funded Dec 12, 2023

Thank you so much for stopping to read about my students and our project, and donating to our classroom. The materials arrived just in time, and our 9th grade students were able to use all of the resources so far during this unit.

This unit of study is called the Woolly Mammoth - and the lab material set focuses on ways for students to investigate the question "why did the woolly mammoth go extinct?" Having all these physical resources allowed students to work with group mates to investigate data, as well working hands on to create models with their group mates. None of this would be possible without your support making this project come to life. So thank you so much for all your support.”

  • Testing Our Water Supply!

    Funded Mar 12, 2024

Thank you so much to all of you who read about my classroom and my students and decided to help support this project. With your help were were able to purchase water quality testing kits that allowed students to take measurements of 9 different water quality factors, including water hardness, pH, copper, nitrates and others. Students loved having the ability to test their different water samples, and learn just what was and was not in their water. It was a great hands on learning experience and really brought students closer to understanding the science behind our water quality unit. Without your support, none of this would have been possible, so thank you so much!”

  • We Need Running Water Now!

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Thank you so much to everyone who read our project and who took an interest in my school and my students. The messages and support that you provided help make this project come to life. Our science department was looking for a way to allow students to keep doing hands on science after we had been moved to a new floor of our building without running water. And with your help, we are now able to make that possible.

With all the donations we were able to purchase an individual sink, that is able to be wheeled to different classrooms on the new science floor. We are able to fill up the water tanks on a different floor, and then bring it down to the new science floor to get running water back into the classrooms. It is our goal, that now that this sink is up and running we will be able to start completing more hands on science experiments this semester. We cannot wait for all the exciting investigations we will be able to do now that we have this running water.”

  • New Furniture for New School Year

    Funded Sep 7, 2023

Thank you so much for reading about my school and my students and donating to my classroom with this project. Your kindness is exceptional. Furniture is one of the most basic items when we think about creating a classroom for students, but it can sometimes be overlooked.

With this project we were able to get another table in my classroom to replace the connected desk-chairs for students. This means that students are able to work together more easily, and have more space for themselves and their projects. That additional space, while it might seem like a small change, can have big impacts on our students ability to focus, and complete activities.”

  • Sitting Down to Science

    Funded Nov 6, 2023

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about what we are trying to do with this project in our science classrooms. It means a great deal to us to know that there are people who want to help support our students academics. We cannot wait for this table to come to our school and get set up in our classroom. It will be put to use right away!”

  • New Year, New Tables

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind words and donations to our classroom project. Being able to see all of these different people coming together to support my students learning means so much to me.

This year my classes have been getting bigger and bigger, so it is important that we have enough tables and space for all of my students. We have had days when classes were so full that we have had to add multiple extra chairs to tables to make sure that everyone has space. So when this additional table came to our classroom it was put to work very quickly. Since then we have constantly had students sitting at the tables, doing classwork and having discussions.

Thank you for getting more tables for our students to sit at.”

  • Breathe Easy & Safely Refills!

    Funded Oct 23, 2023

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to read up about my school and my students. This project means so much to us, and by being able to make these supplies available for my students I am able to make the classroom a safer place for everyone.

Although we are no longer at the height of the covid pandemic, we know that students still can get sick from viruses and other germs that are airborne. By being able to provide new filters for the classroom air purifier I am able to make the air for all the students in my class a little healthier. This hopefully keeps students from getting sick, and allows them to spend more time in the classroom and less time at home dealing with illnesses.

While this is not a perfect solution, every little bit helps keep students safer and healthier. So thank you so much for helping us get these items.”

    Ms. Paradise

I am a science teacher at a Title I school in lower Manhattan serving a diverse and dedicated student body. Our school community is 62% Hispanic, 28% Black, 5% are Asian, and 3% are White. Approximately 7% of our students are English Language Learners (ELLs) and 21% of students are students with Special Needs. My students commute from Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island to come to school each day; sometimes their trips are longer than an hour. Students come to us from difficult home situations, including separated families and homeless shelters, and over 85% of students receive free or reduced lunch. Although our students face many adversities, they are dedicated to their education and their academics. I want to do as much as I can for them inside the classroom to help them succeed.
