These materials will be used throughout the day to encourage pro-social behaviors among classmates. We will use stories to learn about emotions during class meetings and then practice strategies to help us deal with big feelings when we have them. The doll house will be a place students can use imaginary play to act out emotions and problem solving strategies. My students are noticeably more in tune with their own feelings and the feelings of others when they are able to read and analyze texts with characters that exhibit strong feelings and then practice strategies to cope with those big feelings in class. Using the doll house will allow them to develop vital oral language skills around emotions/feelings, playing with characters that have big feelings and learning how to solve problems.
