  • Smile. Welcome Back to P. E.!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations! My students have been so excited to use all the materials in class. The exercise dice have been a big hit in our classes! We use them during our warm-ups and in different fitness stations.

We have also been using all the positive affirmation posters with our students during class. Students learn about the value of sportsmanship and why it is important to be kind while you are learning how to have fun and exercise!

We truly thank you for choosing our school and our project to support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sommer

  • Physical Education Anywhere!

    Funded Oct 23, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations. We use the equipment daily in class. I am known as the teacher pulling my cart around the school bringing PE equipment into the classrooms. We use our speaker daily during our lessons and the microphone projects my voice through my mask for all students to hear!

The students were so happy when they found out our project was funded. They realized this meant I would be able to bring additional equipment into their classrooms to bring additional life to the lessons.

Our next step during this school year is focusing on our cardiovascular endurance. Our students are completing different calisthenic exercises in class. Our students also use flipgrid remotely to workout from home. We are being smart wearing our masks and staying healthy throughout the school day.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sommer

  • Multi-Purpose Room Creativity

    Funded Feb 25, 2016

Thank you so much for supporting my project and more importantly my students. I had all my equipment by the beginning of March and started our racket activities unit. Pickleball was a great activity to teach in my small space. Students were able to safely learn how to play the game while learning basic skills of a forehand and backhand hit. Students had the opportunity to make their own team names and compete in a round robin tournament.

Students were skeptical at first picking up a pickleball paddle but once they learned the hits and game strategies they fell in love with the activity, so much so I extended the tournament an extra week. Students were shocked at how much of a cardiovascular workout pickleball provided on a small court.

Thank you again for all the support of my students and for providing them the opportunity to be introduced to a new activity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Sommer

I teach high school adapted physical education in a multi-purpose room. My students get off-task very easily when they are bored, so they are always keeping me on my toes! I am constantly introducing them to new activities. My students really enjoy playing ping-pong during their free periods, and I feel that pickleball will become a new activity they fall in love with as well.
