    Funded Aug 30, 2024

Thank you is such an understatement for really investing in student success. These portfolios will serve as a resource for students to become much more reflective writers throughout their school year. This resource will also promote their confidence as they see their progress in their writing skills. As always, thank you so much for all of your contributions to the successes of all students.”

Thank you to all of you is an understatement. Your kindness and your commitment to education does not go unnoticed. • Inventors in Elementary School!

    Funded Jul 30, 2018

Thank you so much for your more than kind donations. We were able to purchase presentation board for our invention units in science. As you will see in the pictures, the projects turned out great! In school, it was great to get these students to really collaborate with their peers and get their creative minds working as to what would make life better for not just themselves, but for other people.

It is with great pride that maybe some will be inspired to be inventors in our future. The sky is the limit, kids :)”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chatfield

  • Tolerance and Compassion

    Funded May 7, 2018

Thank you so much for giving us the chance to read about examples of bullying and highlight what it means to be compassionate, empathetic, and inclusive to all. Students learning these skills through engaging books is a good way to reinforce these qualities.

Students are learning that everyone is unique, everyone has a story. Stories likes this really highlight the recognition of diversity in our society. We talked a great about the word "diversity" in class.

It was also very satisfying and heartwarming that students connected to real-life scenarios in this reading.

    Again, thank you.”

  • Standing Up For Student Success!

    Funded Aug 17, 2017

Thank you so much for your contribution to fund the stand up desks that will be coming to my classroom. Students utilize these desks because many of them have difficulties sitting for long periods of time. They become disengaged in their instruction because they are so focused on sitting still. With the stand up desks, students can actually stand, and be engaged with the instruction that is being presented to them. Students will have a stool sit at if they need to sit for periods of time.

Students have always gotten excited to see the stand up desks arrive at school. From seeing the boxes, to witnessing them being assembled; they feel a sense of pride.

The next step with this project is for the students to utilize these desks for academic instruction, small group centers, and other tasks that will enhance their learning.

Again, your donations are very appreciative. It is amazing to witness how people pitch in and make contributions to better a student's quality of education. You are making such a positive impact on student learning that will be felt this coming school year and beyond. These desks will be used to the fullest extent.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chatfield

  • Stand-Ups for Third Grade!

    Funded Sep 6, 2016

My students are benefiting from the Stand- Up Desks because it does enable them to stand during instruction and feel like they are contributing to the class. Many students can NOT sit for long periods of time, it is that simple. Many students are actually more engaged in their education when they stand. When some are sitting, they are making every effort to sit to the point where that is all that they are focused on, not on the content at hand.

When the desks arrived, students were very eager to have them assembled and to utilize them for learning. Students utilize these desks for small group and individual assignments.

The next step for this project is to encourage students to not be afraid to utilize these stand up desks on a regular basis.

We can not thank ALL the donors enough! They have truly made such an impact on the education of numerous students. Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chatfield

  • Student Stand Up Desks

    Funded Apr 18, 2016

All of you, "Thank You" can not be said enough for your more than generous donation for the purchase of student stand-up desks. Like I stated recently, this was not a WANT, it was an absolute NEED for students. Numerous students have experienced difficulties in sitting still during their school day receiving instruction. They simply can not be expected to sit for long periods of time, it is not realistic in many cases. Some students feel like they are doing something wrong because they can not sit, they are doing NOTHING wrong, they are terrific kids, sitting while learning is not their learning style, that is nothing to be ashamed of.

At the start of the 2015-2016 school year, a student was having many difficulties sitting down at their assigned table with their classmates. They would rather stand, which I did allow, it worked for them. I inquired about a student up desk in our school building to see if the student would respond better. Fortunately, a stand up desk was in the building and was placed in my classroom for the student. I talked with the student about wanting to try placing him at a stand up desk, and they were open to trying it. I further discussed my idea with the parents and they were open to the idea as well. As a teacher, I saw a difference in their engagement level right away. They would stand at the desk, but their level of engagement in class was, and still is, high, the student's assignments were completed according to the instructions, MOST of the time, EXCEEDING expected task outcomes.

It was so inspiring to see the results of this individual, I immediately started thinking of ways to obtain more stand up desks for other students, whom I thought would greatly benefit. I, along with a fellow teacher, began researching options for funding to allow for the purchase of more stand up desks. After learning about donor's choose, it was decided to try to obtain funding in that manner, it was such a success! The purchase of three desks and three stools were fully funded as of April 18, 2016.

Upon delivery, students utilize these desks as work stations. They will complete assignments, tests, and projects. Students are also found reading leisurely at these desks as well. Stools were purchased with these desks in the event students wanted to sit for short periods of time.

Upon learning the desks have arrived at school, students could not contain their excitement! They were so happy and thrilled that all the efforts paid off.

Again, this project would not have been possible without ANY of you! It is VERY humbling to see so many individuals and organizations value education and the needs of students. This was truly a team effort! Your donations have already and will continue to have a direct impact on the students' success in school.

Once again, the students and I thank ALL of you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chatfield
