Light Up Our Leveled Library!!
Funded Aug 12, 2021The books that were donated for the level library are broken down by reading level and ability. Students need this to be successful in the classroom. A student who is just starting out in their reading career can get very self-conscious to those who are stronger in reading. In order to fix this, we create a leveled library so that they can choose books that are not too hard and not to ease but just right. Just right books promote the enjoyment of reading while also giving them a slight challenge so that they use their strategies and continue to grow as a learner.
In our classroom we have different parts to the reading block. One part is small group reading where the magic of reading really starts. It is where I can pull small groups to really teach them skills at their level and move them forward in their reading career. In order to do this, I have to fun and engaging centers that will keep the others learning while I am busy teaching the small group. The books from this donation really help with that because the students really love them.”

Funded Sep 23, 2021A calm down corner is essential in these unprecedent times. The some of the students in my classroom have never step foot into a classroom before. When students are coming in for the first time and things seem to be challenging, they need a space in the room if they start to show big feelings. These materials allow them to calm down in an appropriate way.
The tent that was purchased serves as a space where students could sit and calm down without the watchful eyes of other peers. Sometimes when students need a minute another child staring at them triggers those big behaviors much more than if they had a minute alone. The tent is always open for student safety, but they have that moment where watchful eyes don't feel so threatening. Thank so very much for funding this project.”

Funded Jan 24, 2020My students have had a difficult year with having to deal with remote and hybrid learning. While they were home, they did not have the access to the recourses that they would be getting within the school setting. This donation really helped with turning their negative feelings toward books into a love for reading that not only would last this year but for years to come.
My students loved having access to the books that were given in this project. They get to touch and feel the books while reading a text that is at their level. I really love to see the enjoyment in their eyes when they have a good book in their hands. They are super excited to have these books and are looking forward to getting better at reading so that they can read other books within the set.”

Literacy Centers
Funded Feb 12, 2022Thank you for your wonderful gift of literacy. Students are will greatly utilize these materials in their independent learning stations during our reading block. It really promotes the love and enjoyment of literacy. If students are truly independent and I can teach the small groups as intended then the magic of reading happens. We are truly grateful.”

Magnificent Magazines!
Funded Feb 4, 2020Thank you so very much for the donation of the subscriptions of the magazines. The original class was unable to utilize the donation due to the pandemic but the class that is present within the classroom have been able to utilize the donation in many different ways. They like to read the stories and answer the questions about the articles. I really like to use these things during writing class. It is nice to show them a different source of writing aside from books and modeling. It shows them that writing comes in many different forms.”

Comfy Cozy Carpet
Funded Mar 5, 2020I know this was a long time in the coming but we have not been able to use our carpet until this school year. Although students can't collectively sit on it at the same time they are doing a great job being socially distant during our reading center. Each child sits on a corner of the carpet and relaxes while they read. It is so delightful to have an ocean-themed carpet because it actually makes it cozier in the classroom.
We are truly grateful for this generous donation. I am bummed that the original class that it was purchased for weren't able to utilize this beautiful carpet but they do come to visit and love to look at it.”

Math and Hybrid
Funded May 4, 2021Thank you so very much for your contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic and remote learning transition. This project included a voice amplifier which was very useful for my remote students. When we transitioned back to hybrid learning the children who remained remote couldn't hear me very well when I was wearing a mask. This amplifier made me loud enough for them to hear me, especially during read-aloud.
The students love the care packages I made with the crayons and whiteboard markers both for the in-person and remote students. When at home students faced many challenges with maintaining materials. A lot of the time the students would let me know a younger sibling had gotten into their class materials and ruined them. It was so nice to see their little faces light up when new crayons arrived.”
