Funded Jan 17, 2024My students and I wanted to take the time to thank you for your donations. Because of your generosity, my students have learned through counting collections of decimals. Via counting, they could compare quantities via card games, construct viable arguments as to why their answers were correct, and deepen their understanding of numbers less than one.
When the donations arrived, my students' eyes were open wide with excitement, as if it were Christmas morning. I allowed each grade level to open one package and discuss how best to use the donated materials. They all agreed that the chart paper could be used to create learning posters, the counting tools would make finding or explaining work easier, and the makers would allow them to draw and label their work.
With this understanding of how to use the donations, the students will continue to work on counting collections of decimal amounts, chart their work on poster paper to share with others, and refine their counting skills so they are ready for their next grade level.”
