  • Organizing for Success

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

My students are grateful for your generosity and support. It means to me to have the tools and supplies necessary to be successful in math. We thank you for you donation in helping us become and remain organized. Having all the notes neatly organized in a single location will give them the resources needed when studying and working on assignments.”

  • Learning Math In A Print Rich Environment!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

When the pandemic hit and we went into remote learning, I realized how important it was to our students to have in front of them physical paper to work out problems.

Unlike other subjects where working on the computer is enough, math requires students to be able to handwrite, manipulate, annotate, etc. This is why we were excited to have received a printer for our classroom!

Having a printer in the actual classroom has been a game changer! I am now able to provide even more individualized education by printing additional scaffolds and/or extensions for students as needed, on the spot, during class time. Students are grateful and more engaged than ever. I had a student proudly tell me that he's never had so much work neatly organized in a math binder in his life. We have students come to us to print resumes and assignments because we don't have a designated computer lab where students can print important documents.

Not only is the printer improving student performance by allowing students to have multiple entry points and fluency opportunities, but it has also made my co-teacher and my life smoother and less hectic and stressful. We have a copier shortage in our school and its always a battle getting copies done. We use our printer to print master copies of the work that needs to be copied, but when necessary we print out the handouts for our students directly from our class printer. Thank you so much for your generous donation! We really appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paredes

  • Organizing for Math Success!

    Funded Aug 4, 2022

Your generous donation has changed the way my students feel about math. Having their work organized neatly in a binder has given them them the ability to go back, refer to, and study concepts and skills we are learning. Students are now able reflect and see how much they have grown since the school year has started because their binders are a narrative of the journey we embarked on. Students are proud of what they have accomplished and look forward to what's coming.

When I presented my students with all of the materials at the start of the school year, they were in shock at such generosity and excited to receive everything they needed to have a successful school year. I've had students make comments such as, "Wow I didn't realize a binder could help me be a better student." Students had the tendency of misplacing assignments and/or shoving them to the bottom of their backpack. We now ensure that doesn't happen by doing regular binder checks.

Going forward, students have admitted that they really appreciate us helping them get organized and ready to learn and have also said that they are looking forward to maintaining this habit not only for math but for all their other classes as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paredes

Because of Covid-19 students will engage in a blended learning model this fall. Students will alternate between in-person and remote learning. This laptop will help me pre-record lessons that will be used by students asynchronously. By doing so, students will have the ability to learn at their own pace and make up work they miss during synchronous learning. The laptop will also help make it easy to write directly on digital documents. This will help me provide feedback to students quickly and effectively. Finally, it’s portability will allow me to carry it around the classroom.
