Funded Mar 28, 2018The increased technology in our classroom has been a life saver. Research and access to information is so critical, and one of my goals as a teacher is to provide students with not only the access, but the know-how for the use of technology and finding information through credible sources in the classroom. From facts and vocabulary, to investigative reports, news articles, to games and review. These kindles have given groups more time and contact with appropriate sources and information. As we continue through out this school year and beyond, I know that the kindles will continue to help my students be successful in and out of the classroom. BONUS! I get to put books on their for students to read, and they love the digital access to books!”

Funded May 11, 2018Thank you so much for your generosity. These materials have been a fantastic help in getting students to dive deeper into their texts! One of my goals for the last year has been to help student interact with text on a more academic level, where they can think and manipulate their readings for deeper understanding. The ability to analyze and decompose what they are reading has helped students reading score increase tremendously. I have seen so much growth in my scholars.
In my classroom reading take many forms - working with partners, whole group decomposition, modeling thinking, read alouds etc. We really love to work with primary sources and contemplate the original intent and what the information can tell us. The highlighters, straight edges and other materials give student the ability to do this consistently and have lots of categories for thinking exposed on their text. We often even use them for images and cartoons - highlighting and chunking images to see what they say.
One of the kids favorite lessons was diving deep into understanding the life of Alexander Hamilton and the effect his writing had on the Constitution. We were able to look at Federalist Papers, cartoons, and even lyrics from the musical Hamilton. The kids loved being able to dive in deep and the materials you have provided allowed for a seamless experience.”

Geography, Technology and Nature! Increasing Access to Tech in Class!
Funded Jul 31, 2018Thank you so much for your generous support for my classroom and students. While this took a while to get going, the technology has been indispensable to our learning environment. In the spring we plan to do our biodiversity study with the students where they will use the technology to do their data collection project.
We have been able to use the tech for so many things in class beyond just the posted project. The students have used the AR tech and atlas's to research the world and make it feel real. The kindle has been a great tool for students to use as an integrated tech piece. From looking up simple answers, to watching or recording videos, students are using this technology in amazing ways.
We look forward to many more investigations and projects with the help of your amazing donation.”

Reading, Games and More!
Funded Jan 12, 2018Thank you so much! My students are so happy with the games they have gotten to play. It really shows the power of game play in helping students learn. Competition is a great driver for learning and these materials have helped foster both competition and collaboration with students trying to compete but also help each other out and learn. Over the last 9 months (minus summer) students have been using these game boards to play, but also to create their own review questions and play each other. What a great way to be creative and learn at the same time!”

Classroom Supplies for Success!
Funded Mar 8, 2018Access to supplies can often be the difference between a student having a successful learning experience or being completely I engaged in the learning process. The materials supplied in this project make sure that the latter is not the case. A simple eraser cap can brighten a students day and boost their confidence, for the sole reason of being able to fix their mistakes. What a powerful thing! The oils have made sure that our class is focused and smelling good! We truly appreciate the security you have given by providing necessary items to our classroom and making sure every student has a equal chance to succeed!”

Listening & Learning!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for your generous donation to our class. We have an amazing technological capacity with in class computers, but this project will help students stay on track and it will also aid them by letting them work at their own pace for learning. I am really excited to be able to use these with my students! I know they will be too!”
