Five years ago, I created a summer enrichment program called Summer Art and Literacy. The class combines literacy, math, fine arts, art history, science, dance. Students in grades K through 5 are recommended by their teachers for the program. The classes are composed of mixed ability students. The curriculum is based around several different Caldecott Honor books. It is thematic, and all activities are connected to the artwork within each book. This year, I am hoping to add photography to the mix!
