  • My Safe Space

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

As you know COVID-19 changed the live of many families dramatically. Remote learning took the place of in person learning. The impact has been dramatic! Many students have lost family members, homes, and the lifestyle they knew. School is the one constant in their lives. Whether through a screen or in the classrooms students need to feel safe. That safe space has been created within the walls our our classroom due to your generosity. We use the materials daily to help individual students who may be struggling for a moment and for students who consistently need to find a calm space to settle in and prepare to continue learning. Thank you so very much for taking time to give to our students and to support the efforts we are making to provide a safe and nurturing environment for every student that enters our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Preddie-Allen

  • Hygge the Classroom Combating ACEs with SEL (Social Emotional Learning)

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

As we have re-entered our classroom and began remote learning for a second time. We realize how critical it is to ensure that we address the social emotional learning of our students, and their families. We have had some time to use the sensory stones, soft light wickless candles, and sound machines to help our students learn calming techniques. The yoga mats have provided safe spaces for us to spread out and occupy our 6 ft distance with visual supports for our youngest learners. It has been so helpful to have material available in the classroom that are easily accessible for a student at a moments notice. thank you for making these material available and helping us to support our students.”

  • Clean Air for Clear Minds!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Wow! WE have been back to school for 3 weeks now. The impact of COVID-19 and remote learning has not slowed down our work. We have started this school year off with a big focus on safety, health, and wellness. We practice washing our hands and keeping our space clean. Our motto of "Clean Air, Clear Minds" remains our focus. We have learned about germs and what they do to our bodies. We have worked hard to wash the "meanie greenie germs away" with soap and water. We practice keeping our "space bumpers" as we sit for snacks, play, and work in our classroom space. We have also learned about how our clean air machine keeps the air we breathe in and out safe for all of us. We practice belly breathing like Elmo and we keep our coughs and sneezes covered. When we think about keeping our friends safe we stay safe too. Thank you for making our re-entry to our classroom so safe and amazing.”

  • Books Take Us on Adventures, Connect Us and Unite Us.

    Funded Jul 8, 2020

Thank you for helping us to provide books that will allow us to share the content of cultural diversity through interactive engaging culturally relevant books. Through books, students gain language skills through books that relate to their own personal life and experiences.

Reading books that reflect a student's personal experience helps to build skills that will later allow them to speak, write, and read as they acquire language. Learning beyond the classroom builds communication skills. These books help students to build self-confidence and self-worth.

I want all of my students to know :

You are important! You are valued just the way you are! Thanka you for helping me put books in place that help to demonstrate this.”

  • Sensory Input for Learning

    Funded Jan 22, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity. Sensory input materials allow my students to learn through hands-on experience. Kinesthetic learning is a mode that is very often preferred by young children. The opportunities that this fidget, blocks and light table exploration objects have been very exciting for my students to use.

We have used water exploration objects for calming and sensory time. Several of my students are using these items for self-regulation, impulse control, and working through frustration.

ESSA - Every Student Succeeds is critically important in our learning environment. You have helped us provide materials that help our students to succeed. These materials allow our students to learn through low stress and highly engaging experiences.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Preddie-Allen

  • Remote Teaching- Leave No Child Behind

    Funded May 5, 2020

My students will be connecting with me via many platforms. The supplies you help me to obtain will make these connections much easier. We will be able to have live storytime chats. Lunch meets, and much much more. COVID-19 really changed so much for these preschool students. It is so very important for them to know that their teacher is still here for them. Technology is allowing us to engage at a safe distance and continue the learning that started in our classrooms. Thank you for the support that you have provided and continue to provide for children around the world. Stay safe!”

  • Building Young Minds one Book at a Time

    Funded Mar 2, 2020

Research tells us that reading to young children and allowing them to explore books freely is the best way to engage their minds and creativity. Reading also helps young children to build background knowledge for later success in school. Your generosity will allow our youngest children to develop an appreciation of reading while building reading skills and literacy skills that will help them to be successful throughout their academic careers. We appreciate the opportunity you have given us. Thank you for helping us develop a love of books and all that we will learn.”

  • Engaging English Language Learners

    Funded Oct 7, 2019

My students have grown so much in their language development. We have learned 46 new vocabulary words and we have added Spanish and French for our English speakers. We love learning new languages and building our background knowledge. We have found pleasure listening to stories from around the world and at the same time increasing the words we know and use every day. Thank you for making this possible for us. We know that learning new languages is very hard but listening to learn has made learning fun and easy.”

  • Let Us Listen and Learn!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

What an incredible gift this has been for us. We have used the CD player with special programs to build our vocabulary. We are learning new words every day and have built a special word wall with the words we have learned.

We hope to add 2 more languages for our friends who speak English. They are very excited about learning words in Spanish and French.

Our youngest scholars see the value in communicating with each other no matter what language we use. They are excited to go to our listening learning center to discover new words and share what they have learned with their peers.

This has been amazing to watch as a teacher. Such an incredible opportunity to learn and grow. Thank you for giving us this wonderful gift.”

  • Liquid a State of Matter

    Funded Apr 3, 2019

My students were so excited when the large box arrived in our classroom. When we opened it they almost jumped inside of it. We had to let them start exploring immediatly because they were so curious, and needed to put their hands on everything! It was a delight to watch. We have placed our liquid jars and texture toys on our light table. We are looking at the liquids as they move in the containers. The children have enjoyed watching the colored liquids, thick liquids, glitter, dripping liquids move. They have truly become mesmerized by the movement of water. The inquiry that has come from this experience has been remarkable. Many of my students have began to ask questions that have lead to additional exploration. We have added an aquarium with the water beads that grow in water, and we have added new tools to our water table. My students are off to an amazing year of scientific exploration and it started with the materials you so generously donated to our classroom.”

Having a 12-inch iPad Pro will allow my students dive deeper into their individual interests yet allow for exploration of standard skills that all students need to develop. Many of my students are living in homes where they have no internet access, limited opportunities to travel outside of their immediate neighborhoods, and limited access to cultures other than those in their neighborhood. A 12-inch iPad will open up opportunities for my students to experience a world outside of their neighborhoods. Students will be exposed to global opportunities available through digital experiences. In a global community that strives to help students become career and college ready, it is imperative to increase innovative learning opportunities that encourage students to become innovative thinkers. A 12-inch iPad will allow my students to have multiple opportunities to increase their inquiry skills and enhance individual thinking skills by allowing them to independently search for answers to their own questions. Inquiry-based learning allows students to own their own learning. A 12-inch iPad will make it easy to connect with the world around us through a kinesthetic option that not only supports students with visual impairments but also supports students who learn best through touch and tactile learning experiences. The portal for learning will be open and unlimited when touch technology is available for all of my students to experience. It will remove some of the challenges and the limitations that my students' disabilities can produce. A 12-inch iPad will provide learning experiences beyond limitations of the classroom walls and allow my students to be immersed in global learning opportunities. A 12-inch iPad will provide FREE, immediate access to an infinite amount of information. A 12-inch iPad literally will put my students' learning at their fingertips.
