Off to a Right Start with a Soft Start!
Funded Nov 13, 2022Words cannot even begin to express how much my students and I appreciate all of the donations you have made to my project. We have enjoyed what we received so much and everyday we are finding more and more that we love doing. When the materials first arrived the students were so excited when I opened the boxes and showed them all of our materials. All of my students kept saying, "I can't believe we have all of these fun things to play with!"
When the students arrive at school each day we have many that report to various jobs around the school which leaves some of the students behind in our classrooms. We have encouraged the students who don't have jobs to come in every morning and use the soft start materials to help start their day off in a positive way. Some of the favorites the kids enjoy using are the UNO cards and the Straws and connectors. The kids have challenges on how high they can build and love working with each other on a task. We have had some very heated UNO games in our room and I love it. To watch the kids interact with each other on a different level has been such a positive, uplifting experience to have in my classroom.
I look forward to all of the experiences my kids will have with all of the materials we have received. I love having time with my students in the morning to start easy and stress free. Thank you so much for allowing my students the opportunities they now have by contributing to my project. Your generosity has made many fifth graders so happy!”

Refresh the Math Classroom
Funded May 21, 2020With all of the uncertainties this year has brought due to the pandemic, one thing is certain. My students and I have throughly enjoyed using all of the new supplies and materials in our classroom.
The chart paper helps me bring math concepts alive on a daily basis. It allows my students a larger space to display their work while in socially distanced groupings. The white boards, dice and other math manipulatives make learning fun and exciting.
We are not sure where this year will take us but we are very grateful for all of the donations we have received to make this year as normal as possible.”

Funded Jan 25, 2016Dear Donors:
When I submitted the project "Cozy on the Carpet" I did so with the intention of providing my students a cozy place to read, learn and interact with one another. The day the carpet arrived was a very exciting day in our classroom. The kids were so excited, they were jumping up and down and in awe of this new learning space. The days since the carpet has arrived have been filled with kids excited to get down and read, work and learn with their peers or by themselves. They are constantly looking for reasons to work on the carpet, and I feel great being able to give them that opportunity. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide a cozy environment for my students to fall in love with reading and learning.
Our new carpet gets used a majority of the day. The students in my class will go to the carpet to read their independent reading books as well as complete classwork. Sitting on the carpet offers them a break from sitting at their desk, and I encourage it with my whole class. It is very easy as a teacher to call kids to the carpet for a mini-lesson or a read aloud. They are very engaged when they are sitting around me on their square at the carpet. Each student has an assigned square which helps cut back on unnecessary distractions during lessons or work time. Our music teacher also utilizes my carpet when she holds her music class in my room. She finds it very easy to have the students in their places when playing instruments and singing.
As this school year comes to an end, I look forward to all of the things I can utilize this carpet for in the year or years to come. I am certain that classes for years to come will look forward to, and love using the carpet during instruction. The carpet that was donated to my classroom has brightened up my room and given my students an alternative place for learning to take place. I look forward to using this with future classes. Thank you again for providing my class with this amazing donation.”
With gratitude,
