  • Magic Tablets/ Let's Explore

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. I am so excited to see my students use these tablets. The tablets will provide enrichment in both reading and math and will surely be a favorite station. I called this project "Magic Tablets" because student growth seems magical when they enjoy the process of learning. The tablets will provide my students with fun challenging activities that will promote problem solving skills. Most of all though is the magic that comes to our classroom through your kindness and support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thompson

  • Listen To Me Read!

    Funded May 18, 2018

The students in my class were able to start the new school year with a brand new listening center, books, and Cd's thanks to your kind and generous donation. During our reading groups the students are able to listen to the stories and follow along in the books. The listening center makes it possible for the small groups to listen to the story at the same time and discuss the story with their classmates. Many of the students in my class are learning to speak English and listening to the stories being read aloud to them help to build their English vocabulary.

The students love hearing the classic fairy tales and are really excited to draw pictures about the story they listened to. The listening center is a special part of our reading group time and will surely instill a love for reading in my students.

My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts and appreciate the kindness your company has shown us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thompson

Many of my students are English Language Learners and most of their parents do not speak English either. In my class we need to build English vocabulary and a great way to do this is by reading and listening to stories. I am requesting a listening center so my students can listen to stories during small group reading rotations and writing centers. The students will learn to listen and retell stories and then write about the stories they listen to. Listening and retelling stories will help to build my student's vocabulary as well as their confidence in reading. We look forward to story time at the listening center.
