Show Choir Needs to Be Heard

Funded Nov 16, 2018

Thank you so much for the brand new microphones and dresses. We have already put the new microphones to use during an assembly that we had. The students chose to perform the song "Handclap" in front of roughly 200 parents and it was the first time they have been heard clearly singing while in our gymnasium. We have also been using the microphones daily in the choir room, as the medley we are currently working on contains many solos. Seeing the students face slight up when they were asked to use the mics, was amazing. For a few of them, it actually impacted their performance by making them put more effort into their stage presence.

When the students first saw the microphones, dresses, fan, fog machine, and bow ties, they were really happy. Some of the kids were far more excited than other, though, because they really understood and knew just how expensive and important microphones are. Luckily, they all seem to have realized now. We are still in the process of fixing up the dresses with gold bows, as black and gold are our school colors. Our hope is to have the dresses ready in the next few weeks. That way, the students can wear them at their district-wide performance on March 2nd.

Our next steps for the semester are to continue to learn songs for the big benefit concert we will be having in May. Roughly 100 students will be performing on stage the evening of May 3rd. They will be putting on a massive Broadway showcase, with some of the proceeds going to charity. We plan to use all 24 microphones that night, along with the dresses and bow ties. It will be the first time on our stage that the Show Choir has been in uniform, and the kids can't wait.

Thank you so much again.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Spiegel
