  • Ready, Headsets, Let's Learn!

    I want to thank you so much for donating to this project! As we wrapped up this 2023-2024 school year, I would like to share the impact your generous donations towards this project made! My students were so excited to receive new headphones with mics and put them to use quickly. We began using the new headphones with mics for all their educational Apps, videos, and digital learning. This got us ready for our end of year assessments.

    All students completed their year-end assessments utilizing our new headphones without a glitch. No more broken headsets or not enough headphones for my students. I did not have to scramble for working headphones with mics. I certainly was glad to see no more mics in their mouth as an issue with these new headphones.

    These headphones were a great success and made a difference in our classroom. The quality of these headphones reduced distractions, allowed my students to concentrate and focus on their own device while working on educational Apps and assessments, and they no longer had to wait their turn to use a pair of headphones because there was one for everyone. They even had their own special cloth pouch to protect and store their own headphones.

    I truly can't thank you enough for your generous gift to our classroom mobile rolling library carts project. Your support has allowed my students to utilize these carts in any area of the classroom for comfort and flexibility as they select their library and reading books at their disposal.

    This is a great start moving forward towards our goal of promoting literacy within the classroom.   • Ready Readers and Mathematicians

    Thank you for supporting our classroom with Teacher's Pay Teachers Gift Cards towards 2nd Grade reading and math resources and activities. I was excited knowing that I would have the privilege of selecting specific resources for my students. With your donations, I was able to select great bundles that are colorful, with great artwork, fun, engaging, and most important, targeted skills that are geared to the needs of my students.

    The bundles that I have selected are Decodables and Centers that are based on the Science of Reading, Literacy Centers for 2nd Grade- Phonics Reading Grammar Writing, Math Centers, Guided Math-Year Long Curriculum, Math Review Bundle- Morning Work- Math Worksheets, and Math Made Fun Curriculum.

    As I continue to print and prepare these activities for my students, I have enjoyed seeing how engaged my students are when working together to use these resources. They are continuing to show progress with their reading and math gaps from the previous year.

    The Decodables have helped my second language learners progress as they learn manipulating phonics patterns in words to develop their English. This skill has made a great impact in our classroom as students practice mapping words and developing their writing. Additional grammar and phonics activities have also been a success in providing extra practice for skills needed to be mastered. My students so far have a preference working with compound words with the rocket ship activity.

    The math resources have been a hit especially with the review of our basic math facts to develop automaticity. My students are supporting each other and working together to complete these activities. The greatest part is that students want more and requesting them to be made faster. A year's worth of great activities await to be prepared as lesson ae being taught.

  • Jump Start to School!

    When I first saw that people had given to my project, I felt humbled and grateful to have so many donors (49) show their support towards not only my project, but to my students' education. I felt that everyone was trying to make sure that these materials and supplies were going to get to my students' hands, so that they had all that they needed for their virtual math lessons and assignments.

    When I received all the wonderful educational materials that were bought with your donations, it felt like Christmas morning because all I wanted to do was deliver such learning gifts to my students' so that they could be ready to start school.

    Delivering these materials to my students was tricky, especially during these times of the Pandemic, but safely, I managed to arrange a way to deliver them to my parents in person. Doing this allowed for me to meet my parents for the first time, and even some of my students. My students were excited to meet me, and to receive such materials. Parents even later told me that when they got home, like opening presents, my students began to explore and value their new materials that would allow them to be more connected to their schoolwork.

    So far, my students have been able to use the materials for math that were bought through your generous donations. Having such supplies at home has made it easier for them to work through their math problems. These supplies have also helped parents to support their child at home, since they did not have to struggle to find these resources or alternative resources so that their child may learn with such supplies. Overall, these resources continue to enhance and support my students' math skills through their virtual learning classes. They allowed for my students and I to have a truly great start to our school year. Thank you for caring and for making this happen!”

  • iPad Mini Inspiration

    Funded Aug 9, 2019

    The iPad minis have been a success! My students depend on these tools to practice many skills at their own levels. They have learned to log into their own reading programs to practice comprehension skills. They enjoy listening to stories read aloud to them as they earn points after completing questions that check for understanding for each story. They utilize the internet with help to locate vocabulary meanings and research topics for their class tasks. Students are also reading their own leveled books through various programs and apps. With the flexibility to choose apps and interactive reading activities, I have been able to accommodate tasks to complete activities that focus on phonics skills, interactive games, and activities that support their growing reading skills. With guidance and training, these IPads have been a hit in our classroom.

    My students love the IPads! They are always wanting to have access to the IPads during our math block as well. They have learned to take turns and use them for our monthly assessments, daily math workstations, and interactive math games that provide data for me to plan lessons accordingly to their individual needs.

    Our new iPads have provided us with updated technology that continues to support our ongoing learning. It is a tool that we can depend on more frequently and consistently when working jointly with our older technology. I have been able to replace older IPads with these new ones. With the rest of the year ahead of us, my students will soon become experts as they continue to use them for many more lessons, activities, projects, and additional subjects.   • This Spot's for Me!

    Thank you so much for such a wonderful carpet that has served our classroom well in many ways. We are very pleased and grateful to have such a colorful carpet that is being used for all kinds of lessons and tasks throughout the day. Our carpet has given my students the opportunity to select their own personal space during various lessons. No more fumbling around with a folded carpet to make it fit appropriately that ends up hiding some of the letters or numbers. We now can place our numbers or ABC mats in order without leaving any of them out. My students have had the pleasure to utilize our carpet in multiple ways: building with blocks during their center work stations, participating in mini math lessons together; spending time listening to stories and actively being engaged in early literacy activities. We have been able to sing and dance and participate in many additional circle time events for Math and literacy. Thank you for your generous contribution towards making this a successful project!”

  • Mini iPads For Little learners!

    Thank you so much for our mini iPads. You all have made a difference in our classroom. My first graders love computers and have been having fun using them. It has inspired my children to become actively engaged and interested in their own learning. The impact in my students learning has been a positive one.

    These mini iPads have already had lots of use. The students have been taking turns using them for many activities. They have been using the mini iPads to gather information and complete their animal research projects as a group and independently. They have developed teamwork skills because they must collaborate and work as a team to complete activities that require sharing the mini iPads.

    During literacy workstations, students have been able to work independently on skills that are at their appropriate levels. The use of our mini iPads have supported my students when building words and sentences with our phonics apps. The students enjoy listening to online stories as well as reading them online. They have been used frequently during their practice reading passages for for fluency, taking quizzes, using Google translators for words in Spanish to English, and many additional reading apps that support their reading and comprehension.

    Science has been a blast for my students. They have been viewing videos on life cycles, finding habitats, characteristics, and taking control of asking questions that they now know how to find answers, music for kids on math topics, math addition and subtraction drills for automaticity, leveled math games and apps to reinforce measurement, money, time, capacity, place value, fractions, addition, subtraction and so much more. We have ended our year with a bang and will continue using these mini iPads for the next school year. Thank you so much for making it a great success towards my students learning.”
