  • Visualizing History: Projects Created by Pregnant and Parenting Teen Moms

    Funded Dec 6, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting this project. With your help, my students now have the materials necessary to create visual aids demonstrating their understanding of literature and history. Upon arrival, they cut the poster boards in half to maximize their supply. They also arranged the stickers representing different countries and cultures into categories and created a creativity corner in the classroom to store project materials.

The students were pleasantly surprised with the speed at which their materials arrived and began working immediately on creating historical timelines, summaries, and images using the generous supply. They brought their ideas to life through their crafted trifold charts. The visual aid helped students share what they learned with the class, vastly improving their public speaking skills.

Thank you again for your generosity and support of my students. We could not have made it this far without you!”

    With gratitude,

  • It Takes a Village: Helping Teen Mothers Finish School

    Funded Jun 23, 2023

Thank you again for your kindness. Our students were thrilled once they received the materials. We held a small student assembly, shared the news with them, and gave them access to much-needed childcare and self-care supplies. The snacks are kept in the classrooms and are made accessible to students. We are still learning about pre and post-colonial China and hope to use graphic novels next semester. Again, staff and students are so grateful for your thoughtfulness and support of our school community.

We look forward to your continued support in helping our students prepare for life post high school.”

  • Celebrating Teen Mothers

    Funded May 15, 2022

Thank you again for your generous snack contribution. My students were pleasantly surprised, and the snacks lasted for the remainder of the spring semester and the start of the fall semester. Attendance this year is up, and students started the year off strong and are doing their best to maintain momentum.

Our next steps are to resume providing snacks throughout the school day so that we may continue to hold students to high academic expectations while offering high levels of support and tending to their social-emotional and wellness needs.

Thank you again for your offering of support! :-)”

  • Back to School Nutrition Offerings for Parenting Teens

    Funded Aug 24, 2021

Thank you again, donors, for your generous contribution to our snack campaign. Our students are grateful and are happily plugging along, completing their courses with the nourishment they need to make it through each school day.

Students were thrilled to learn that the project material arrived so promptly. It took fewer than two weeks for the delivery. Upon arrival, the homeroom teachers sorted the snacks into bowls that were placed in each homeroom class. The same process was used for sorting the water bottles.

Once everything was in place, students were permitted to take snacks anytime they felt the need. I have noticed that many of them begin their day with a granola bar. In brief, we have learned that having snacks handy throughout the day has helped our students press through challenging tasks when working independently and collectively. Moreover, with the water fountains still shut down due to the COVID-19 restrictions, having bottled water readily accessible in each homeroom class has contributed significantly to student achievement.

Our next steps are to sustain the snack contributions by asking for more donations or budgeting for snacks schoolwide. We hope that sustained snack provisions will become a regular part of our classroom and school culture and assist in developing an optimized learning environment conducive to each student's social-emotional and academic success.”

  • Distance Learning Support for Pregnant and Parenting Teens

    Funded Jul 13, 2020

Thank you for your generous contribution. These pandemic conditions are extremely challenging, especially for pregnant and parenting teens. Your support has made it possible for my students to care for themselves and their children by giving them the resources they need to protect their health and their children's health.

By providing diapers, wipes, and sanitizing materials, they can protect themselves and their children. They do not have to risk their health by leaving home often to purchase items for their children. Furthermore, they can keep their environments clean and free of COVID-19 and other harmful bacteria with sanitizing wipes and cleaners.

Along with other teachers, I hope to continue helping our students with the necessary resources to care for themselves and their children both physically and mentally. Our next steps are to survey our students and see what has been most beneficial for them so far to continue to offer them support.

They are grateful for your continued assistance. Your contributions are making it possible for them to live productive and safe lives.”

  • Empowerment and Well-being for Teen Moms through Physical Fitness

    Funded Oct 1, 2019

Thank you again for your generous donation to our PE program. The students are extremely grateful for your thoughtfulness. They are eager to begin exercising, and I am working hard to get a PE program started that matches their wellness goals and also the districts fitness guidelines.

At this time several students are visiting my classroom and exercising on their own. They have begun setting personal fitness goals and are keeping each other encouraged about maintaining their exercise routines. The staff is thrilled to be able to offer them PE equipment, something they have been asking for, for so long.

It is a pleasure to see how your contributions have mads such a significant impact on our school community. Providing students the opportunity to maintain their well-being through physical fitness is an important step towards helping them manage the stress of their day to day lives. We cannot thank you enough!”

  • Academic Support for Teen Moms!

    Funded May 13, 2019

Thank you again for your generous contribution. The students were pleasantly surprised. Not only were they appreciative of the snacks, but they were deeply impressed by the generosity of the public.

As a result, the students were much more productive. They understood that their work not only impacts them, but has an impact on their communities. The willingness of the public to support their efforts made this message clear.

The majority of the senior class has gone to college. They have visited to express how grateful they are to have been challenged and supported socially and academically by the teachers and staff.

The support offered by each of you through your thoughtful donation has a lasting, positive impact on youth. Please continue to invest in their productivity.”

    With gratitude,

My students recently took a school climate survey and many of them reported being hungry throughout different times of the school day. The students reported that they would be more motivated to attend school if snacks were provided. School breakfast and lunch were reported as not being enough to hold them over for an entire school day. Additionally, students reported that snacks would help them focus more closely on their work. Many of them shared that they work late nights and either do not have adequate food at home or they do not have enough food at home to pack snacks. If funded, the food items requested would be available to students throughout the school day and after-school. A bowl of snacks would be placed in each of the three classrooms and stored by the English teacher in a locked classroom cabinet each day after school and over weekends and holidays.
