  • Social and Emotional Support

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your incredible donations. The donations made to the items for my classroom are greatly appreciated. We've been using the Little Spot series on a regular basis and doing lots of fun activities along with them. In addition to the series, my students have been accessing all of the sensory items. They have been a huge support, especially in times of crisis/ stress. All of these tools are imperative to the learning of the students in my classroom. My classroom is based on supporting social and emotional needs and these tools have worked wonders this year. I honestly don't know what I would do without them! Thank you again for all of your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kulig

  • Coping Tools

    Funded Nov 8, 2022

My student's have really enjoyed our 'Little Spot' books! We've started to implement the strategies from the stories into our daily routine. We're really focusing on a 'Little Spot of Kindness.' After reading the Little Spot of Kindness, we created our own kindness spots and put them up on our back bulletin board. Every time a student is caught being kind, they get to put a kindness sticker on their chart. Once the charts are filled, we get a reward! This has been really motivating for them to change their mindset and focus on positive thoughts and language!”

  • Crucial Support for in Class and Remote Learning

    Funded Oct 20, 2020

Words cannot even begin to describe the impact my new laptop has had on my class. I am able to effectively present lessons and interact with my students without constant disruption during remote teaching. My students love that I am able to share my screen with them and play games, have movement breaks together, share books online, and many other things! During such a difficult time, I feel like I am still able to reach my students and have success with them. More importantly, I am still able to engage with my students and assist them with their social emotional learning. When I am in the classroom with my students, I am able to use the laptop to present lessons, share a visual schedule, and complete academic tasks together.

Thank you so much for your donation. You have made an amazingly positive impact on this teacher and her students!! I appreciate you :)”

  • Helping Rescue Dogs Helps Us

    Funded Sep 15, 2019

Our class dogs have been a great addition to our daily routines. Students who have difficulty getting work done or have anxiety going to different rooms have been able to be successful with the use of their dogs by their side.

In addition to using the plushes for comfort, my students have enjoyed learning about the real lives of our dogs. The stories have given the students a sense of comfort as well as something they can relate to. They've enjoyed learning about the dogs, have asked lots of great questions, and helped them better understand their own emotions when connecting to the dogs.

Thank you again for supporting this project. It has truly made a difference in my classroom.”

  • Bouncy Seats

    Funded Apr 16, 2019

When my students first entered my classroom this year, their eyes (and bodies) were immediately drawn to the movement balls at their tables. Students were excited to try them out!

My students each have a ball at their table and are free to use them whenever they feel necessary. Most students use them during their sensory break time to get out a little bit of energy. These seats give students another outlet within the classroom so that they do not have to miss valuable class time as well as build in another strategy in their sensory 'tool box.' Students have become independent with identifying appropriate times to use the seats as well as how to use them appropriately. They've been an amazing addition to our classroom and we wouldn't have them without your support. Thank you again for supporting my students and helping them feel successful in school!”

  • Social and Emotional Tools for Success

    Funded Mar 7, 2019

Our new social/ emotional tools have been awesome! We've had great learning experiences using our new games, especially our social skills game which has 6 different games! My students have had meaningful and thoughtful conversations around real life situations that they could potentially be a part of every day. In addition to the games, we've been able to get great use out of our balancing beam and the sensory tools (sparkle wands, textured balls, and stretchy snake). We are able to use these tools daily to help decrease negative behavior and increase independent coping skills! It's incredible what a few tools can do to help support our students. It's been amazing watching them grow in such a short time. Again, thank you for your generosity, it means more than you'll ever know!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kulig

  • Sensory Seats

    Funded Jul 19, 2018

My students were beyond excited to receive our new class sensory seats!! The seats came in large boxes and my students were so helpful bringing the boxes to our classroom. They could not wait to see what was inside!

The sensory seats for my classroom have been a wonderful tool that the students are able to use throughout the day! Students are able to use the sensory seats as a way to take space to calm their bodies. They can also use the sensory seats to complete classwork in a non traditional way. Students have participated in group discussions while sitting in their sensory seat. They really have been a great addition to our classroom and hope they can be used for many years to come! Thank you again so much to all of our donors. You have truly made a difference in the daily life of each and every one of my students!”

  • Social and Emotional Needs

    Funded Apr 3, 2018

My students are responding really well to our new essential oils. They really seem to like lemongrass and orange! They have a calming affect in the classroom. My students are very aware of the scents. We like to try combinations of certain scents as well as using the individual scents!

In addition to the new essential oils, the ink has been huge help in our classroom. We use the ink daily for many different things. It is used especially for our social emotional needs, specifically our daily check ins. Each morning, students come into the classroom and fill out a check in. Students share how they are feeling, goals they want to work on for the current day as well as any strategies they plan on using to reach their goals. At the end of the day, students use their morning check in to think about their day and address any issues they had or something they want to work on for tomorrow. The check in is a great way for teachers to assess students emotions first thing in the morning and also allows students to process their day!

We are so grateful for the donations made towards our essential oils and classroom ink, we use both daily! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kulig

  • Dav Pilkey, Captain Underpants, and DogMan

    Funded Apr 5, 2018

What an amazing project this has been for my classroom! I work with students who tend to have difficulties around academics, specifically reading. Allowing my students to access reading in a non traditional way has made a huge impact on them. They have increased their reading scores because they are reading and applying their reading skills nonstop. They are constantly asking to read, read, read!

Within these books, we have been able to teach important skills such as sequencing, cause and effect, problem and solution, and drawing conclusions (just to name a few!). Students have been able to identify new vocabulary as well as address spelling mistakes within the comics (and be able to correct the errors!).

We cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to our classroom. Thanks to you, we have students who now LOVE to read and ask to read on a REGULAR basis!! My deepest thanks to you and what you have helped us accomplish in our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kulig

  • iPad Support

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

The Ipads have provided our classrooms with such amazing support. They have provided us with so many resources to use within our classrooms. We have been able to use learning games, music, social emotional apps, and Microsoft Excel for data collection.

The data collection has been extremely valuable because we can share information with each other as professionals about specific students to be able to identify trends and difficulties. We have been able to better support students daily given the information that we are able to collect and share via the IPad.

In addition, the apps that we have been able to use within the classroom are extremely engaging to the students. We've been able to use a variety of apps throughout the school day ranging from academics to social/ emotional.”
