My project aims to place students in charge of creating, sharing, and documenting their school experience. I am currently responsible for the school newsletter and social media postings and would like to add an authentic student voice to what is shared. A DSLR camera will provide students the opportunity to capture moments of learning and teaching in our school. Right now we are limited to the teacher's cell phone and the camera on the student Chromebook. In addition to being more mobile, students will continue to develop communication skills as they use these images to support our school's digital news on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. This group of student leaders will be responsible for sharing the many ways our creative staff work to engage students in daily activities. Students will have the chance to post, tweet, and document the experiences they value in our school community. For example, each month instead of relying on teachers to provide pictures for the newsletter, this crew of students will be able to feature each classroom and the learning taking place. Students will become active contributors to the social media presence and the information communicated to our community.
