  • It's Restock O'Clock-Classroom Supplies Edition

    Funded Jul 4, 2022

First of all, I want to thank you for the mighty impact your donations have had on my students. Every day they come in eager to learn and look forward to the various activities we get to do in class. During the course of a week, we participate in various collaborative group work activities to enhance our learning objectives and increase student engagement. My students were eager to utilize the new whiteboard markers as we played a game called "The Mirror Game". Students had to sit face-to-face with their partners and solve a problem that was presented to them on the monitor. They then shared their responses with their partners to see if they "Mirrored" their partner's answer and earned points for one or both getting the correct answer. We also have engaged in various task card gallery walks where they utilize the clipboards obtained through this project. Every resource you provided has been used and appreciated! We are grateful that your donations provided these great opportunities to my students, and we appreciate your support. Thank you once again for your donations!”

    With gratitude,

  • Engaging in Color

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

My students were super excited to receive the colored paper that your donations helped us to purchase. Task cards provide teachers with easy, but effective ways to meet the needs of all students who come to the table with all different ability levels. Task cards provide individualized instruction and scaffolding because they allow for effective chunking of material. Being able to use colored paper allowed for the task cards to be differentiated based on color-different colors determined the difficulty of the task.

The paper was used in various ways to help engage the students. We completed gallery walks which allowed the students to engage in the task cards independently or with a partner. Guided notes were also created using colored paper. This help the notes to stand out and made them easier to find in a middle schooler's bookbag.

We used the colored paper to create math concept game cards to use with our game boards which the student absolutely love. Having the cards on colored paper made it easy to determine which set of cards went with which game board and also keep the students from mixing up cards when they accidentally dropped them on the floor!

Again, we thank you and appreciate your donation to our project! We hope you enjoy the pictures!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farrior

  • Code Name: Earbuds A. Stylus

    Funded Dec 20, 2018

We are honored and grateful that you chose to help us to fund our project of styluses and earbuds. The students were extremely excited to see what was inside of the boxes that had arrived to our classroom. Having these materials makes using our iPADs so much easier as we are better able to thoroughly and effectively access our devices. I am sure you can imagine the struggle of trying to write out a long division math problem using fingers of various sizes so to say the styluses are a lifesaver is a definite understatement! The earbuds have allowed the students to work at their own pace to complete their assignments. It does my heart proud to know that there are people such as yourselves that are willing to support teachers by helping us to provide the many needed supplies to our students. Again, my students and I say THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

  • Supplies Needed: Moving Beyond the Storm

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

My students and I were excited to receive our supplies that you so graciously made possible through your generous donations to our donors choose project. Many of my students were greatly impacted by the hurricane and worried that they would not be able to get their work done because they didn't have paper and/or a pencil. I was happy that I could say "grab a pencil from the jar" or "get some paper from the basket", and there be some to provide for them. They were even more eager to learn knowing that people such as yourself made it possible for them to have what they needed in the classroom. Thank you again and God bless you!”

  • Wobbling in Our Seats

    Funded Nov 30, 2018

Oh, how I wish you could have been present in our classroom today as we opened the boxes to reveal our new Wobble Cushions! The students were filled with so much excitement as they anticipated sitting on their cushions. They eagerly unwrapped the plastic so that could try them out. It was exciting to see them so overjoyed to have a new edition to our everyday seating arrangement. It was difficult to get them on task because they were so giggly! Today was a great day in our 6th-grade classroom and it's all thanks to you! I cannot express my gratitude enough. You are amazing! Thank you!”

  • School Supplies-Mission: Possible

    Funded Oct 22, 2016

Thank you very much for taking the time to give to my wonderful cause! It has been my great honor having your support. Through your generous donation, I have been able to supply my students with the materials they need in order to be successful in the middle school classroom.

We do a great deal with dry erase boards and with 90 students, markers dry out very quickly! And as you can imagine, pencils shorten with great speed.

Your generosity has been a blessing in offsetting the cost of these materials. Because of individuals like yourself, students do not have to worry if they are not able to afford to replenish the supplies they need once they are all used up.

Thank you will never seem like enough, but with all sincerity, Thank you! We are truly grateful for what you have provided for our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farrior

  • Getting Our Game On Through Hands-on Learning

    Funded Jan 19, 2016

First, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how grateful I am for your generous donation to my students and our classroom. My students and I were over the moon excited to receive our resources just a few weeks after our project was fully funded! My student are always very enthusiastic and eager learners but they couldn't wait to break open the plastic wrapping and seals of our new resources.

In our classroom we do numerous cooperative learning activities on a daily basis and make sure to incorporate at least one Math Station Activity day into our lesson plans. During this time the students work in groups to do various hands-on activities like math related games, task cards, math website activities or concepts scavenger hunts. With that being said, my students were greatly anticipating our Station day once they saw our new materials coming through the door. They just could not wait to utilize all of the new and exciting math games and manipulatives we received thanks to you.

Hands-on learning is hands down the best way for students to learn because they don't realize that they have actually retained the concepts that have been taught. But to their surprise, they are easily applying those concepts while playing these educational games. The most amazing thing about incorporating hands-on learning activities into our curriculum is seeing them apply the skills and objectives they are learning everyday to play these games. They have absolutely no idea how much they have retained until they have to apply there knowledge to compete with their classmates. The best part is that even the student who has a hard time retaining information or doesn't learn as quickly as others is overjoyed to be able to get to the next level in a math game because they finally realized that they get it now.

Research can prove that students learn most from what they do as well as from other students and my students are making great gains thanks to the hands-on learning we have merged into our everyday learning. Your donation is doing this for these students!!

We are truly grateful for what you have provided for our classroom! We look forward to more and more days of using the materials you have provided for us. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farrior
