School Supplies for Awesome Third Graders!
Funded Jul 16, 2021This year is off to a great and busy start! It's so nice to start be in-person! Your donation has already been put to good use. I have 30 third graders this year, and they each have their own set of school supplies. I have them keep their supplies in their pencil box. Their pencil box contains 2 sharpened pencils, crayons or colored pencils, an eraser, and expo marker, glue stick, scissors and one highlighter. We use these supplies everyday, with extras to spare incase we run out.
During math, students use their white boards often. It saves paper, and is easy to check their answers during a math lesson. I will say, "1,2,3 boards up", and students will show me their work. It's also a lot easier to erase and get ready for the next problem. During reading, students are learning to highlight the answers within the text. This helps with test taking strategies and looking for evidence. In third grade, students still enjoy putting a lot of color into their work, so the crayons and color pencils have been very helpful.
Thank you again for your generous donation, and for supporting public school.”

Funded Aug 27, 2019My students love their Time for Kids magazines! They are constantly asking me what the next issue will be. Even I get excited when I walk to my mailbox and see the latest magazine. The activities that come with the subscription are amazing. They are interactive and challenge my students to think. In the Trick or Treat financial issue, my students were able to understand the concept of comparing prices, and getting the most for your money. In the Our Planet issue, my students brainstormed ways to help our planet. They also predicted what Earth would look like in 2050. I'm so grateful we have this resource. Students are learning about current events as it's happening. Thank you so much!”

Funded Sep 17, 2018In a couple of weeks, we are hosting our first mariachi concert. Our sixty students have been so committed to this program. We meet twice a week for 90 minutes. We started with the fundamentals and are currently learning our second song. Your donation has contributed to the success of these students. We were able to replace broken stings, put rosin on bows, and are able to stand up using guitar straps for support. Every child has their own guitar pic. Your generosity means the world to us! Music is such an important art, and you are opening doors to students who limited to Fine Arts. Happy Holidays!”

School Supplies for Awesome Third Graders!
Funded Jul 5, 2018It has been a great start to our new school year. We are already into our second quarter, and have been working very hard. Your generous donation has provided my students with accessible school supplies such as colored pencils, glue, erasers, and pencils. They keep all their supplies neat and tidy in their pencil boxes, which was also a donation from you. My class understands that these donations are a sign of kindness and support towards their education. We discuss on a daily basis what it means to be kind and give to others. Thank your support. We are so grateful!”

Technology for 3rd Graders!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Our 2018-2019 school year is off to a great start! This year, every student received a set of headphones and a computer mouse. We share computers with four other classrooms. Thankfully with your donation, we don't have to share headphones and mice. I organized our technology by using gallon size zip-lock bags and putting their headphones and mouse in a labeled bag. That way, students are responsible for their set the entire year. Students are required to use our adopted online learning program two times a week for 20 minute sessions. Therefore, students are using the headphones and mice everyday!
Thank you so much for your donation! The headphones and mice are being well taken care of, and are being put to good use. I truly appreciate your kindness and support towards public education.”

Funded Aug 1, 2017The fraction tiles that you have provided for my classroom are a huge success. Fractions are difficult to learn, so having this hands-on manipulative has helped students understand fractions. I was so thankful to receive a class set of my own. I love teaching third grade, so these will be used in the years to come. We have been taking good care of the fraction tiles. After each use, I assign a lead student to inspect each set before it is returned to the box. This ensures that all the pieces are accounted for. They are great for comparing fractions and adding fractions. Thank you again for contributing towards education.”

Third Grade Materials!
Funded Mar 29, 2017My third graders are off to a great start. On the first day of school, my students were provided school supplies, thanks to you! Each child received a pencil box with 2 sharpened pencils, a glue stick, an eraser, one Expo marker and scissors. We do a lot of writing, reading and math, so these school supplies are being used daily. I teach my students at the beginning of the school year about respect towards our school supplies. They are given the responsibility to keep their desk clean and organized. When one of their supplies runs out, we have some extra to refill. It was a big weight off my shoulders knowing that my students were going to be well prepared for third grade. As you know, third grade is a crucial year, so every donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you again!”

Funded Mar 22, 2016With the budget being limited this year, I want to sincerely thank you for your donations. Every third grader this school year started off with all the supplies they needed. Every child received a glue stick, 2 pencils, erasers, Expo markers, and paper. We even have extra for the second semester, since these supplies run out fast. Every child on the first day of school feels appreciated when they see their very own pencil box, with brand new school supplies. It is a great way to start off the year.
This year my grade level partner and I switch students for part of the day. This means, on a daily basis, I have 40 students. So you can imagine that pencils run out quickly. In order to keep track of all our supplies, students keep their materials in their pencil box. Anything that is misplaced, goes into our Classroom Lost-and-Found.
It's wonderful to know that there are people who support education as much as I do.”

Funded Mar 13, 2016We have been using our CD players everyday since we have received them. The students love to have their hands on new technology. They use the CD players for a reading program called Read Naturally. The CD players are used to play CD that have reading passages that help with fluency, accuracy and comprehension. Once students have completed their level, they move on to a higher level. My third graders love the responsibility of taking care of a CD player. They are gentle and make sure to keep them organized and clean. I have already had 8 students who have moved up a level in reading. Thank you for this opportunity. We appreciate your support towards education.”
