Awesome Test Takers!
Funded Dec 14, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation. The testing materials arrived just in time for state testing. I had sharpened pencils, thanks to the two new pencils sharpeners. I had brand new headphones, that students were especially excited about because the cool colors. And the privacy folders were a life changer!
Students were excited to start their testing season with resources that help them achieve greatness! Testing itself can be stressful. If we can provide students with a sense of comfort, they are likely to score better!

Students used their many writing materials to help write their report. In math, students follow along with the math lesson using their white boards and white board markers. Your donation has provided my class with brand new expo markers. When I told my students about this project being funded, they were very excited. Funded Nov 15, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation. We have already received 3 issues of TIME for Kids. We have started talking about current events and how the News has changed over time. I told my students how important it is to learn about what's happening in our world and how it will affect them in the future. In today's generation, students have access to phones and tablets, but somehow don't know to to access current events and what's impacting our world. TIME for kids is a way to ensure students have access to the news. Thank you again for your generous donation.”

Funded Sep 11, 2023Thank you again for your generous donation. The 10 chess sets you have provided for my class have been a hit! Currently we are learning to play the game of Chess. We first started with learning the names of the pieces and how they move. We started off with a Pawn's Game. This is a strategy where students are only allowed to use the pawns in the game. It has helped with navigating the chess board and playing against another opponent. Towards the end of the day, we will set up the Chess boards have play against each other. Chess is a critical thinking game, so students have to have great stamina and patience. Thank you again for supporting public schools!”

Funded Jun 22, 2023We have been loving our classroom rug. It matches perfectly with the colors of our classroom. After lunch, we gather and read a chapter book from the carpet. It's a great place for students to work independently. They love to have a comfortable spot to sit and work. This is my first year teaching 5th grade. I've taught 3rd grade the last 10 years and didn't know if 5th graders would enjoy carpet time. Boy, was I wrong. They love to sit on the carpet and listen to a story, or finish their math on the carpet. Your generous donation has provided our classroom comfort. Thank you so much!”

We Love Books! Do you?
Funded May 7, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation. We have already read the wonderful books you have donated to our classroom. One of the students favorite was Eleven. It's a story about the day of September 11th. It takes us through the main character, Alex's day. It was his birthday when the events of 9/11 unfolded. We were currently reading it on September 11, 2023. That day was more meaningful for us, because of the novel we were reading in class. This month we're reading The City of Ember. Students have been so invested in this books about Ember running out of resources. Thank you again for your generous donation!”

Funded Oct 10, 2022Thank you again for your donation to our love for reading. Your donation has opened many doors. The guided reading books have been used during guided reading and have helped students to decode and practice their short and long vowels. The sight word bingo is a hit. Students love to identify the sight word and call out "Bingo" when they win. They are learning and having fun! There were many social and emotional books donated to our classroom. These books have helped my students with their growth mindset. Being able to have confidence in themselves and how to work through a struggle in a healthy way. These books are displayed on a shelf in my classroom, where students have access to them. They love to reread these read-alouds. We hope you enjoy our Thank-you photos!”

Funded Jul 17, 2021We are off to a great start this school year. We are all so happy that we are in-person. It definitely makes a difference. When I received our first subscription in my mailbox of Time for Kids, I literally jumped for joy. It's such an amazing resource to have in the classroom. The first issue we received was about Cicadas. We learned where they come from, their characteristics, and wrote down 2-3 facts we learned about cicadas. Living here in Arizona, my students have heard cicadas in the late afternoon, but didn't know what they actually looked like. I loved how we turned this article into a science lesson. We took one subscription and cut out text features. Students learned how to identify a photograph, caption, diagram, map, heading, and key words.
Thank you again for allowing us this opportunity to learn about current events. We truly appreciate your support in public education.”
