Funded Jan 23, 2023Thank you for donating to my class. This project specifically is trying to get my unmotivated and the lower level reading students interested and hooked on books that they can enjoy and understand. I'm sure my students will be thrilled when they hear they are getting new books to add to our class library!”

Starting Strong
Funded Aug 19, 2022Thank you for donating to my project. In this project we got some new graphic novels that my students are fighting over on who gets to read them next- this makes me happy! We have found something that interests some of my reluctant readers and that is always my goal.
The other new product that my students have been excited about is the pencil dispenser. I have always wanted one for my classroom and this project allowed for that dream to come true in my room. The students love being able to get their pencil from there when they need one. Thank you again for supporting my classroom.”

Funded Jan 27, 2022Our Social Studies curriculum is very out dated. I love having the ability with the gift cards to teachers pay teachers to find things that are grade appropriate for my students that also engage them and keep them interested in our topic. Social Studies can be very dry and boring for some students so finding them things that keep them interested is amazing for me.
A lot of my students love doing interactive notebooks in class. They get to cut and be creative with certain parts of them so that is amazing for them. Thank you for supporting my classroom!”

Funded Sep 23, 2021Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. With your donation I have been able to purchase a Social Studies curriculum from teachers pay teachers that the students seem to enjoy when we use it. The gift card has allowed us to learn about the 50 states and do this with an interactive notebook so that the students are engaged.
The colored paper has allowed for the notes to be printed on colored paper so that their notebooks are colorful and bright, but we also use white copy paper and actually color in parts of notes when needed. Thank you again for supporting my classroom.”

Funded Jul 26, 2022Thank you so much for supporting my classroom and my students. These resources helped us to start the school year off to a great start. The take home folders have allowed my teaching partner and I have to one place for our students to put papers that get sent home in, and they come back when we need them to because of the consistent folders. These have been great for our kids.
The students are always excited when I tell them I got another project funded and they get even more excited when the boxes get delivered and I begin to unpack them. We are very grateful to the generosity of you. Thank you again so very much for always supporting my class and my students.”

Funded Jun 21, 2022Thank you so much for helping my classroom. We have been using our Scholastic Storyworks the last couple of weeks, and my students love them! These magazines cover most of our standards in 5th grade. The stories are exciting and relevant to what the students what to learn about.
We have been reading this month about Snow White a sloth from Costa Rico that had to be helped due to her habitat being cut down. The students loved reading about her and how she recovered and was able to be turned back into the wild to live out her happily ever after.
Thank you so much for supplying my students with these magazine that they love to use!”

Funded Aug 1, 2021Thank you so much for donating to my project. The Scholastic Storyworks incorporate so many things in my Reading class that make it enjoyable to my students. There are many different types of articles that interest them and make them want to reading. I really love that there are some great comprehension questions and many different types of leveled questions and worksheets that I can pull to match my students needs.
In my classroom there are many different levels. Many of the students are behind since they have had an odd schooling situation in the last few years. Storyworks allows me to do things on each of my students levels without giving them something else- we can all work on the same article, but then differentiate the work to fit their needs. Thank you again so much for funding this project- it is probably and always will be my favorite one to have available.”

Funded Feb 10, 2020Thank you for supporting my classroom. My students are avid readers and love when I am able to get new books for them to read. We are able to use these books in many different ways. We can use them either with a whole group lesson or students can use for independent reading time when we are taking a break from their iPad.
I am always looking for ways to make reading fun for my students. One way to do that is to get them reading materials that they enjoy and want to read. I am always buying new books for them to read so that they will find something that interests them.
Thank you so much for supporting my classroom!”

Mentor Sentences
Funded Jan 28, 2021Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. The items that we are very appreciated. The books that we received are being used to do a project called mentor sentences. This is where we look at the story and then find the "perfect" sentence within that book. We look at this sentence everyday during the week. On the first day we just write what we notice about it, the second day is looking at the parts of speech, the third day is looking at how we can revise the sentence, and the fourth day is the students writing an imitation sentence. From the time we have gotten to do mentor sentences I could see that my students were getting better at identifying the parts of speech.
I attempt to make reading fun for my students. I love to read, and always hope to get my students to love it as much as I do. There are many different books within my classroom library that allow my students to have a wide range of reading levels, or interests when choosing a book. Thank you so much yet again for helping my students get new books that we can use in our classroom.”
