My students love using technology whenever they can get their hands on it. The problem is, they do not have enough access to it. The goal of this project is to close the gap between my students and those in more affluent communities. The tablets will be used in intervention classes that target skills needed to be on grade level. The use of technology in intervention will be a game changer! A class set of tablets will provide a vast number of resources for intervention purposes. For example, students can read interactive books based on their reading level and interest while targeting needed skills rather than read a class set of books that do not necessarily apply to their skill level or interest. Also, student engagement would vastly increase! Students love the chance to use technology in any form, and who wouldn’t want to participate in an individualized curriculum? My students deserve the same learning opportunities as students in affluent schools and homes. One day they will be competing for jobs, and because of their lack of resources, my students will be at a disadvantage. With the use of tablets in the classroom, it's the beginning step to decreasing the gap to attaining the same opportunities as others their age. So, I ask, why not my students?
