I teach 120 inquisitive and fun 3rd grade students at a KIPP St. Louis elementary school, a school sponsored by Washington University- St. Louis. We serve a very high needs population as shown by the fact that 96% of our students come from low-income families. Our students are 98% African-American or Latino and over 10% of our students qualify as special needs. My goal is to help my students get ahead of game and not fall victim to the achievement gap. By making learning fun and focusing on results and a college going culture starting in kindergarten, I know I can help change the educational outcome for my students.
