Bach's Buddies!
Funded Jan 25, 2018My students are in love with our quiet/listening area!! My students ask to go to this area during class to relax and read and listen to music. I have been providing different music for them to listen to each week and they are getting to experience music from all around the world. This is given as an option during our center time and it is the center that fills up the quickest.
The students have been able to listen to all types of music such as jazz, blue grass and Blues as well as music from around the world. Music from Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Ghana and India.
We are all very grateful for your donation and making our classroom seem a bit bigger!!!”

Funded Dec 18, 2017We have had an amazing time using our new resources in our classroom. We have been able to create new music and explore how music is made. The students are excited to not only hear music, but to see how the sound waves looks when we create different pitches is amazing.
The day my order came in, I was with a class standing by the office and was told I had several packages that I needed to pick up. Many students offered to help me take them to my room. So we got all of them and went to my classroom. We opened all the packages together and the they were just as excited as I was about what we received. As I took things out of the boxes, we passed things around and everyone got to look at what we added to our music room. It was a great moment.
The students are so excited about what we have coming up in our classroom. It is going to be amazing!!!!”

Funded Mar 15, 2017Thank you so much for your support with helping me provide a print rich environment to my students. I am a music teacher and any time that I can incorporate literacy into my classroom it is a wonderful experience. My main goal as a music teacher is to support my fellow grade level teachers with literacy skills. Our students need as much exposure to print as possible and I am over the moon that I am able to share with them all these new treasures!!
Music is the perfect environment for student to add fun and creative elements to reading. We take books and make up singing voices for different characters and as we read along, we use those different voices. I also have the students get out instruments and we will play instruments along with the books to give the books a more realistic feel. The students listen carefully to the words so that they know exactly where they need to play or sing in the book. There are some days that the students just want to sit and quietly enjoy a reading day and we will do some independent reading with some quiet music on, such as Mozart or Debussy.
I find that if I keep mixing up these different activities with the students that it keeps them engaged in the classroom and they start to internalize some of the text we are reading. There are many students that benefit from this as they need the hands on approach to learning and this is the perfect way to help them. Again, thank you for your support in my classroom!!!”
