  • Mysterious Inferencing

    When I received the package with these materials, it was hard to keep my students out of the box. As soon as I opened it, they were excited!

    My students are busy prepping for the STAAR test (our state of Texas exams) and test prep can be a little...dry. These mystery boxes and escape room activities have made my students actually look forward to doing their work. They are learning how to read critically, how to make inferences, how to use context clues, and, more importantly, how to work together toward a common goal - all while having fun!

  • Imagine and Explore with Reading

    My students come to class and read everyday. Becoming a good reader takes time and practice and that's not something that happens overnight. The books that I am now able to have in my classroom have given my students a variety of topics to choose from that pique their interest. Because of your donations, I am able to provide high interest, relevant reading materials for all of my students - from sports biographies, to love stories, to mysteries, to fantasy worlds. These new novels, with diverse characters, topics, and authors, are helping them see themselves in literature.

When a student finds themselves reflected in the characters and the authors of a book, they are more likely to be interested and engaged. We make time to read every single day. Giving my students novels that will spark their imagination is the most important thing I can do to help them become lifelong learners. Help take my students into different worlds so that they can be even more successful in this one.

About my class
