  • Teachers Helping Teachers

    Funded Apr 19, 2024

Thank you for your generous contribution to my classroom. A little love and care can impact a child's life in a big way. By donating to my classroom you have made it possible for me to purchase additional practice materials, especially in math and creative craft projects to bring some fun into our busy academic schedule.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Patino

  • Teachers Helping Teachers

    Funded Jun 17, 2022

Using the teachers pay teachers website is a huge benefit to me and has enabled me to use wonderful materials made by other teachers. By having a gift card to make my purchases has allowed me to purchase an amazing decodable reading unit that has directly helped my most struggling readers. I also used some of the money towards helping me purchase materials for author studies and social emotional lessons that go along with the lessons we are doing in school this year. Thank you again for your generous support.”

  • Learning About the World Around Us

    Funded Dec 14, 2021

Thank you so much for supporting our first grade learners. We go through many stages of learning to read and having the opportunity to learn with different types of texts help keep the students engaged. Your generous donation allowed us to purchase Time for Kids magazines for each student. The colorful pictures and interesting articles keep them excited and eager to read. The subscription also came with an online portion, which let's face it in todays classroom - the technology aspect is an important component as well. I am able to post links to the google classroom so the support for the material can be accessed by the students at home. Your donation made a difference in my students lives!”

  • A Classroom Filled With Color

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so much for helping me fill my classroom with colorful images for my classroom. We have been using books to study characters and the character traits they possess. I am able to print out a copy of the cover of the book with the vocabulary words we are learning from the characters to display in the room. We also have a mood meter in our class to help us with our feelings. We learn also from the characters in our books and how they deal with their feelings. Printing the images of the characters with their feelings help us connect the feeling with the words. You have made a difference in our classroom.”

  • First Grade Super Readers!

    Funded Feb 14, 2021

Thank you for helping me get exciting, colorful, and informative magazines into the hands of my first graders. Learning to read is such a challenge and having different types of reading help keep it exciting. Also, scholastic news magazines help us learn about the world around us with the non-fiction information.

We use a reading workshop model in our school which allows the students to learn how to read at their own pace. They can follow the mini-lesson with the class and practice the skill in a book at their individual reading level. By using the scholastic magazines we can also have the students practice reading on the grade level with the additional supports they may need.

We keep our scholastic news magazines in a special folder and collect them weekly. We then go back and revisit issues that we have read during our non-fiction reading and writing units. This is when we focus on the craft of non-fiction and look for the different features of non-fiction like vocabulary words in bold and captions that go along with the pictures.

Your donation goes a long way with our first graders and helps bring our classroom to life with fun and excitement with the materials to learn from. Thank you again.”

  • Give the Gift of Reading

    Funded Jan 20, 2016

Thank you so much for your donation. We received a box of over 100 brand new books at all different levels so each of my students were able to receive a new book that was just right for them. My students do not often get to open a brand new book and get to be the first person to read the book, and the excitement showed on their faces. In the books we received there were many Fly Guy books, that is a new character to our classroom and they love him.

Teachers are often looking for ways to get our students excited about learning. These new books were one way, and we are so thankful to your generosity”

My students have been with me since Kindergarten because I was fortunate enough to be able to loop with them and stay their teacher for first grade as well. I am enjoying being able to watch them grow academically and socially. Our school is a Pre-K to 5th grade school in a wonderful community with a diverse population of working class families. We make many efforts to create a welcoming school and a fun and happy learning environment where the children enjoy coming to school everyday.
