August Wilson Life Change Class Trip To Broadway NYC
Funded Mar 10, 2016Dear Donors Choose Friends/Supporters,
Our NYC trip was amazing in so many ways, and went off pretty much without a hitch. Our generous donors allowed us to fly non-stop to LaGuardia, and our flights were zero-hassle. The Palmieris front-loaded subway and bus routes. We became experts at zooming up, down, and cross-town on the NYC subway. Our hotel was brand-spanking new, super comfy, and perfectly located a brisk 12-minute walk from Times Square.
Here our some of our favorites from the trip:
"The Color Purple" was astonishingly good. We were all blown away. It was a highlight for all of us. The acting, singing, staging, and lighting were all off-the-chain. Center orchestra was pretty cool, too.
We all loved walking the streets of New York. The intensity, the skyscrapers, the mass of humanity - it was wonderfully different.
The pizza!
The 9/11 Memorial Museum was humbling and church-like.
"Sistas" was terrific, and we were in the front row!
Two of us now want to go to school in New York City, and all of us can't wait to go back.
As we prepare for our "Scenes from August Wilson" performance, we are all inspired by the phenomenal Black actors we saw in the two amazing Broadway shows we attended.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Palmieri
