  • Help Us Improve Our Space for Developing A Love for Reading

    Funded May 25, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our school library! I can't begin to express how thankful I am for your kindness and generosity.

Your donation will allow students visiting the library to create and work on creative and attractive projects, extending on their literacy encounters! Students will enjoy using this clean new workspace. Students will be greatly engaged and enthusiastic about future tasks working in such an appealing work area.

We can't wait for your donation to arrive!

On behalf of myself and my students, thank you so much for your donation! We appreciate it more than you know! We will be creating many new projects enriching our literature experiences as a new year begins. For example, we plan to read David Goes to School written by David Shannon. Students will discuss school and classroom rules. They will create David and in speech bubbles have David tell others what they should do at school to have a successful day.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cerfeda

We are an inner city school with approximately 1,000 students. As the librarian, I see approximately 500 students a week. My students are primarily children in grades kindergarten through grade 2. They are a diverse community in a low income area. They are enthusiastic about learning and their visits to our school library. Yet, often do not have all supplies necessary to complete projects. They are eager to learn and tackle new tasks. As school librarian I try to expose them to new literature, as well as, loved literature with the hope of building a love for reading. I try to give them different experiences with books, but at times it is a struggle when not all have necessary supplies.
