Most of the students are from a low socioeconomic level. Our current enrollment is 324 students. Our population consists of 75% African American, 18% Caucasian, 1% Asian, 3% Hispanic, and 3% Others. The students at our Middle School are living in a rural area and parents are unable to provide the materials that students need day to day to become effective learners. Our county is the top county in South Carolina for unemployment. If we, as educators, don't teach them the skills here at school they will never learn how to be productive citizens and strive for excellence. The students here think that once you graduate from high school that this is it. We have students that with the right help and continue to move forward if they have the skills and given the opportunity to move forward.
