Still remember your favorite book from middle school or high school? You know, that book that touched your heart, taught you a lesson or entertained you? For me, it was The Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell in middle school and then The Grapes of Wrath later. Books transport us into another world to see how others live, experience places we may never go and teach us lessons we may never otherwise learn. Students placed in my elective course are there to improve their reading skills. I use a variety of online resources and magazines, but what I'm missing are good old-fashioned books. Our building is almost 50% low income with a beautiful variety of students from many different ethnicities and backgrounds. I am requesting a set of novels for my 8th graders for the 2018-2019 school year,
