  • America's Game-Baseball!

    Funded Aug 16, 2017

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your donation to our school and our middle school baseball team! This thank you is late because we had a real winter and we are just starting our new season. The equipment is wonderful and the boys, their parents and their coach are glad that we can keep our team safe and look good at the same time. Your continued generosity to education and sports is first class. The students waited all winter to use this gear and last years team is jealous but happy for this years team. Our best to you and wishing you good health. Thank you.

  • Our Goal is Success in more than Soccer!

    Funded May 1, 2017

Your donation which allowed me to purchase Puggs for my girls soccer team has been put to good use. The equipment purchased has been used at almost every practice and is used as part of our pre-game warm up for all of our matches. The girls have gotten better as players as a result of the equipment. The equipment also allows the coach (me) to design practice sessions that keep the whole team busy learning skills and techniques required to be successful at soccer.

On behalf of my team, my school and community I would like to thank you again for your generous donation. Be well.”

  • The Students "Hunger" for More Archery Games

    Funded Nov 29, 2014

During the past two weeks and continuing this week my students have been engaged in our archery unit and having a wonderful time. The addition of the extra targets has definitely made an impact on the amount of shooting that each student is provided during our class periods. This additional time has allowed each student that is new to this sport to not only learn the steps to archery success but also to increase their accuracy on the range.

In previous classes before this donation only five students could shoot at one time. This certainly created much waiting to shoot time which limits the learning and teaching that is required to become proficient at archery. Now there are ten shooting stations and the classes "fly" by for the teacher and students. Last years classes have remarked that this is a major improvement in down time resulting in better opportunities to participate.

The additional targets are being used in multiple classes during school hours and also into the community as part of a parent-child adult education enrichment program. The archery range now has a first class look as we continue to find additional ways to set up the range to optimize the use of the equipment.

In closing, my thanks and gratitude for eliminating a roadblock to learning and growth in this archery activity. I would also be missing something if I did not mention the fun that the students are having as they grow in this sport. Your donation will be used for years to come and I wish all of you well for thinking of our students. Thank you.”

  • Allagash Wilderness Waterway-More Than a Canoe Trip

    Funded Apr 2, 2014

I would once again like to thank all of you for your generosity and kindness for allowing these students to participate in the canoe trip. As you can see from the attached photo's, the students and parents had a wonderful experience. The weather was wonderful, the wind was favorable and the food was delicious. During this adventure we saw wildlife including moose, deer, eagles, beavers, muskrats, and a few other furry critters. The students tested their mental toughness and I would have to say, learned much from the three days on the river. The seeds of loving the outdoors and wilderness have now been planted, leadership skills developed and memories created for a lifetime. May you all be well and fair skies with the wind at your back greet your future adventures also. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerard

  • Step Right Up To Improve Your Overall Mental Health!

    Funded Oct 8, 2013

As a result of your generosity, my students have a viable alternative to the activity of the day. Therefore, every day the students are active during physical education and benefit mentally, socially and physically from exercise even if they do not particularly like sports. These materials also allow me as their teacher to design a variety of activities for the entire class that utilize multiple routines to keep the students active. The students who are benefiting the most from this donation have now found a great way to participate in a non-threatening event and are learning how to keep themselves physically fit. Thank you very much and on behalf of my students I thank you also. Be well.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerard

  • Food Secrets Teenager's Should Know: Before Their Next Burger

    Funded Jun 7, 2012

    Dear contributors,

During the past year the world of education has been in the media for so many reasons. There has been sadness and joy but in the midst of all of the news, the students have continued to learn and grow as they prepare to take their place in this great world of ours.

The book that your contribution allowed my school department to purchase, Omnivore's Dilemma, was a great addition to our curriculum. The reading of the book and subsequent book reviews was used in conjunction with our unit on nutrition. The book provided the students with another insight into our food chain and in many cased opened their young eyes to the "real" story about food and nutrition. This book stimulated great classroom discussions and will continue to be used with future classes.

On behalf of the students, thank you for your generosity in aiding them in the quest of knowledge. I would also like to personally thank you for helping in my ongoing desire to provide the students of my school with the best education possible. Happy Holidays to all of you and your families. Be well.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerard

  • "Eye" Have Fun in Gym with a Digital Camera!

    Funded May 4, 2009

On behalf of the students at my school and myself, I would like to sincerely thank you for your donation to our school and to all the teachers who have benefited from your companies generosity. When business acknowledge the impact that teachers have on students, the future leaders of our world, it re energizes us in our daily vocation.

Since the day my digital camera arrived, my "gym" classes have taken on a different energy. Using this technology has allowed students to take pictures of their classmates enjoying different activities. One activity in particular, fly fishing for trout, resulted in a wall in our classroom entitled "Hook and Release". The competition to catch a fish and get your picture on our wall was fun and the students self esteem showed in the pictures. We also performed a community service day where we planted seedlings at a local recreation area. Once again the camera helped capture the moment.

We have seen the potential of this project in such a short time, therefore I look forward to the next school year where we can increase the participation of students.

Thank you and I hope your company continues to prosper.

    ,”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Gerard

After a great career in the paper industry I am now teaching health and physical education in a public school in Maine. I teach the freshman class health and phys ed and see a great need to provide the teenagers with as much knowledge as possible in order to make better decisions in their life. My goal is to appeal to all the students and not just the varsity athletes. In order to do this I have introduced new sports like snowshoeing, fly fishing and many new individual sports that everyone can participate in for life. We work with the local community in many of our activities and after 3 years, the students are starting to embrace more life skill training and less structured sport training.
