Our students are specifically in need of electronic translators and computers to use in class daily to keep up with their monolingual classmates. This technology will allow them to participate in classroom activities and complete assignments by offering them quick translations and the ability to research class topics in the moment. By giving our English Language Learners the ability to quickly look up translations and class topics, these students are more likely to be engaged in daily lessons and participate in classroom discussions. A portion of our students' ESL instruction includes using the online program Imagine Learning which requires using computers. These students need more access to computers to fully take advantage of their Imagine Learning program. Currently we serve about 75 ELLs and have only 4 computers in our classroom. We are asking for additional computers for our students so that they can take full advantage of Imagine Learning and other resources available to them and so that they can use the computers to complete assignments. Our educators have a strong passion to elevate the ELL/Bilingual program at Molina, and with this technology, they will be able to further empower and educate our students.
