Now Hear Math!
Funded Mar 13, 2018I would like to take the opportunity to let you know how your generosity has impacted my math classroom. Previously, my students had to takes turns using the few headphones available in my classroom. Now they can work at their own pace to complete daily assignments. Students have been using the headphones to watch instructional math videos, listen to homework and assessment questions read aloud to them, and even listen to music while solving math problems. Access to the headphones has allowed my students to achieve greater success in math.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018I just want to express my gratitude for your donation to my project, Building Math Proficiency Through Technology. Ever since the Chrome books arrived my students have been playing math games, practicing math skills, and even taking online assessments. These online assessments give students instant feedback, which is useful for review and remediation.
Today some students chose to listen to music while completing their math tasks. They really enjoyed this because listening to music helps them focus and makes learning fun.
Your generosity has greatly impacted my classroom!”

Funded Dec 12, 2017Thank you again for donating to my project, "Dry Erase Boards for Math." Supplies were low in my classroom and so my students were very excited when the boards, markers, and erasers arrived. They couldn't wait to use them! Math class usually begins with a Warm Up. Students share their solutions to problems at the large white board in the back of the room while their classmates record their work. Often I do a quick check for understanding where students solve a problem on the small white board. After a countdown everyone raises their board to reveal their answer. Students love to see who has the same answer and wonder, "Is my answer correct?
While students are practicing math skills online, they grab a board and marker so that they can work out answers to problems without using paper. Dry erase boards and markers are essential to a math class and make it enjoyable for the students. Thank you again for your contribution.”

Funded Sep 19, 2015I would just like to say thank you for your donation to my class project. Your generosity has allowed me to purchase 10 Chromebooks to use in my math class, providing my students daily access to technology. I have been able to use these Chromebooks in numerous ways in order to meet the individual needs of my students. In addition, extra funds were used to purchase 14 new headphones for the classroom, which allow students to view videos and tutorials.
Because of your generosity students who are struggling with a math concept are now able to review the lesson by accessing the textbook's online program. At this site they are able to watch videos, listen to tutorials, review the lesson, and practice skills taught. More advanced students collaborate in small groups using the Chromebooks as a resource to tackle concepts not yet learned in class. Before beginning a new chapter, students take an online pretest to determine what they know and need to learn. After each chapter they retake the test to monitor their growth. Recently a 7th grade student transferred to our school from Mexico. He uses a Chromebook to access online lessons and interventions in Spanish to help him catch up with the class.
These Chromebooks provide an engaging resource for students who finish their work early. After students complete their class assignments they can access online math games, monitor their grades, or do research for other subjects. Many students are excited to have the opportunity to search the Internet to discover math websites and games for us to explore in class.
My students and I would like to thank you again for donating to our class project. Your gift is helping to improve my students' math skills and has given them endless opportunities to enrich their learning experience. Your kindness and generosity are truly making a difference in the lives of so many children.”

Funded Nov 2, 2010Thank you for your recent donation of the owl pellets, forceps, and gloves to my classroom. When the box arrived my students curiously asked what was inside and I told them. Immediately they wanted to know what owl pellets were and when they would be able to see and touch them.
On the day of the activity we discussed owls and their habitats and diet. To the relief of most students, we clarified that owl pellets were puke – not poop! Shouts of joy were heard as students discovered a bone, a feather, and especially a skull! Students then identified the bones and to which animal they belonged.
Thank you again for providing my students with an enjoyable educational experience. Please continue to support needy classrooms. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! ”

Funded Sep 3, 2010Thank you for your recent donation of the KIDS Discover magazines to my classroom. KIDS Discover gives my students the opportunity to explore themes in science in a fun and eye-catching way. As my students explored these magazines for the first time they were silent. Soon they were eager to share what they read and saw. The classroom silence was broken with statements such as - "Hey! Look at this picture!", or "Did you know . . .?", and "We learned about this last year!"
KIDS Discover continues to be a useful classroom resource. Recently they learned the Periodic Table in Science. The Atoms issue was one that students turned to for additional information.
Thank you again for providing my students with an enjoyable way to read and learn about science. Please continue to support needy classrooms. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! ”
