  • Computer Lab Seat Cushions

    Funded Jan 5, 2023

When the classes first saw all the new seat cushions they literally cheered and ran into their seats. That was a very exciting day!

We are so happy and thankful for your help in seeing this project come to life. My students are always excited to grab their cushions when they come into the computer lab. Some try to sneak two cushions to their chairs as well.

The students are able to stay more focused on their computer assignments and generally have a better time doing their work. My only regret is not trying to get more of them!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fitzgerald

  • New Headphones for the Computer Lab

    Funded Jul 11, 2017

I would like to start with a most humble thanks for the generosity that you have shown my students and this school. With technology being an integral job skill for our students' futures, keeping them engaged and happy is a fundamental requirement. Your gift has helped my students to stay focused on their tasks and it enhances their overall computing experience. Previous equipment was not sized well for the different age levels of our student population, it lacked the ability for students to adjust the sound output to their personal needs, and did not possess the durability required to service the large number of students that use them on a daily basis.

This project impacts all the students in the school. At this point we have over 700 students from Kindergarten to fifth grade, but with the durability of these devices, new students should be able to use them for years to come. Many students comment on the ability of the headphones to control the volume of the computers. The comments I no longer hear are the complaints about the headphones pulling hair or hurting ears. The adjustable headband allows for even the younger students to comfortably wear the headsets.

Once again, please accept my gratitude and the thanks from all my students for this wonderful gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fitzgerald

The students that come into the computer lab are working on many applications that require audio: Grammar and phonetic programs, interactive computer programming, read aloud functions for reading comprehension programs, video support for online lessons, presentation software, mathematics reinforcement programs, to name just a few. The high usage from all the grades in the school puts a lot of physical stress on the computer peripherals, especially the headphones. Younger children often drop the computer accessories on the floor, accidentally bend audio jacks, and break microphones. Sturdier head sets are needed that can withstand this abuse as well as offer the students a high quality listening experience.
