We strive daily to provide authentic reading in a variety of genre's and formats. Non-fiction text is a key focus in the California Common Core standards, and it is imperative to provide my students with engaging, rigorous texts worth studying. It is important in today's world for our students to be global citizens, and knowledgeable about current events. Having a weekly magazine they can read and engage in dynamic discourse will change their educational experience for the better. TIME for Kids helps to build informational-reading skills, and to create a better understanding of our complex world so the students can grow to become informed and active citizens.
