I'm that weird guy on campus who is always having his students do strange projects. I teach physics. Galileo said that the secrets of the universe will be written in the language of mathematics (or something like that). I make sure that my students understand that while the language is math, the vocabulary is not that advanced. They learn to analyse the world around them with a little help from their translator(calculator). Our "class photo" is a good example of the way in which I like to make the science tangible: we are demonstrating Galileo's Law of Falling Bodies (that is not a real student) by dropping large and small pumpkins off the Leaning Tower of Pisa in front of the rest of the campus. I'm that weird guy that does strange things and makes his students take calculators with them to amusement parks. I'm Mr. Carter, and I teach physics.
