An ELMO document camera will make it quick and easy to integrate technology into the classroom. There are so many uses for an ELMO in a first grade classroom, like show and tell for all to see, letter formation, ABC tiles, display worksheets and complete together for guided practice, display student work/art work, storytime, display sequencing activities, phonics instruction, display classroom rules, use a timer on display and daily journal prompt. There are so many ways this piece of technology can enhance learning in the classroom. It will be an incredible time saver with all students being able to see all at once. This in return allows for time not to be wasted and more educational things to take place in a day. It can be used for all subjects throughout the day.
For language arts time it can display sentence/paragraph structure, punctuation and grammar editing, revisions, share student writing. display text to read out loud and display vocabulary words to name a few. For math time math manipulatives can be displayed for the class to see, show students how to work problems, display workbook pages, display and create graphs, have students work through and explain problems, demonstrate how to use a ruler for measuring and show coins to name a few.
For social studies you can display maps, label maps, photos and images of historical places, display and/or create timelines and
travel using Google Earth. For science, experiments can be easily seen step by step as students work, it would be great for lab set-ups, dissections, zoom in on small items to see details and even used as a microscope. This one piece of technology not only will actively engage the entire classroom, but visual learners will benefit by seeing instructions and demonstrations from anywhere in the classroom.
