  • Headphones for all!

    Funded Jun 16, 2024

Your donation has opened up a whole new world of learning for my students. You have helped make AMIRA come to life. The students are so excited to go on and read with AMIRA using their new headphones. Thank you for your generosity. You have helped my classroom become a place of bustling excitement! Students are excited to have AMIRA hear their voices. The program uses their voice to help guide their reading progress. It makes suggestions and has them repeat to create reading fluency. They are excited to get stronger every day!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Anderson

  • Keeping Warm, Hydrated and Energized!

    Funded Dec 13, 2022

Thank you so much for helping me to outfit my entire class in warm winter hats, gloves and scarves. Although the snow has been minimal in NYC the temperature has been very cold. Many of my students walk to school and your generous donation gave them the opportunity to be warm and arrive to school bundled up.

When my students first saw their gear they were so excited! "For me?", they said! I let them know that there are kind people in the world and we were lucky enough to have someone support our class! I also was able to get them granola bars since we are a food sensitive school. I keep them in the closet and the kids know when they are hungry and the school snack bin runs out that they will always have a granola bar. They affectionately ask for a "chewy".

Our water bottles from the project are on the way they were backordered. When they arrive we will have a lesson on hydration and the importance of drinking water. So many of them come to school with soda or fruit juices. These bottles will be for water and help them learn the importance of nutrition and how it supports growth of the mid and body. Thank you again for your generous donations!”

  • Distance Learning Visual Aid!

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

I can't even begin to share with you the impact your generosity has had on my class. My class is fully remote and using multiple types of devices. My I Pad users have the biggest struggle to learn how to manipulate class assignments and links. Now that I have a Modeling I Pad I show it under my doc camera or on our Video Call and they are easily able to navigate the programs we use and access the materials they need.

My students are very excited about seeing demonstrations modeled through the I Pad. I sign in as a demo students and move quickly around our virtual classroom showing them tips, tricks and how to be engaged with the options their device offers them.

The New York City School Department of Education has given I Pads to many of my students to use while remote learning. Students are teaching me new things about how to use the I Pad now too. When I model on camera and show what they are teaching me other students become so excited to try it on their technology too!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Anderson

  • A Document Camera will bring our online classroom to life!

    Funded May 20, 2020

The document camera that you helped fund gave me the opportunity to make my lessons come to life! Teaching remotely has had some obstacles. I never thought we would be away from the classroom for so long. I had left my document camera behind not knowing we wouldn't return. You gave me back a much needed tool and resource. Being able to model for my students in real time was so powerful. My students were so excited to share their work and strategies after they saw my model with the document camera. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to better provide for my students during these ever changing times.”

    With gratitude,

  • Mathematical Tool Kits

    Funded Jul 23, 2019

The excitement that the resources you provided have given my classroom is a huge success to my math lessons. Each student having their own "mathematical tool kit" to utilize and grow their learning has generated new thoughts, great ideas and interesting questions. My students are excited to grab their kit and solve a problem. I have stocked them full of the resources they need to succeed and you have provided a way for them to keep them organized and safe. Without your donation I could not have accomplished having these resources on hand when needed!”

    With gratitude,

  • Tablets to Translate!

    Funded Jul 6, 2018

What an amazing tool I now have in my classroom! The wonder and excitement on my student's faces was so refreshing to see. Students who speak multiple languages could hear their stories and thoughts in familiar text and language. A recent student from Egypt was so excited his friends could speak to him through Google and Microsoft Translate. Students will also have the ability to talk between tablets and share information. Thank you so much for your generous donation! You have made one very happy class of third grade learners!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Anderson
