New iPad for Success
Funded Nov 30, 2021Having a more advanced iPad to create and deliver lessons and instructional videos for STEM class is extremely helpful!
This iPad has allowed me to continue providing my students with access to digital resources and content that make STEM learning more engaging and fun.
Classes will complete STEM challenges and virtual simulations on AmplifyScience (a new phenomena-based STEM curriculum that utilizes interactive digital tools to empower students to think, read, write, and argue like real scientists and engineers).
I am now better able to display work to the class using the Apple TV that I already have in the classroom.
Thanks for making it happen!”

Funded Nov 8, 2021Thank you for donating to our project.
This year, all of my students will use the microscope for the first time!
They are soooo excited to begin our unit on cells and to practice real science like scientists.
In an era where college and career readiness is a prominent factor in the teaching and learning process, STEM education is becoming more and more important.
I know that my students will achieve greater learning outcomes, given access to 21st-century tools and content that will encourage them to think deeply about studying science concepts.
Your generous donations and kind words mean everything!”

These microscope slides have helped my students to better understand the living environment and to learn about cells while practicing lab skills relating to microscope work. Most importantly, the project has allowed them to practice real science which is motivating them throughout the biology unit.
In this lab, students have used a microscope to observe and record characteristics of cells, explaining similarities and differences among cell types so that they can determine the identity of unknown cell specimens.

The Socrative subscription has allowed me to better monitor and evaluate learning while delivering fun and engaging interactions for my students.
On Socrative, I post questions that require students to practice their vocabulary and literacy skills as they relate to science.
I am able to quickly assess student understanding with prepared activities and on-the-fly questions, then adjust my teaching based on the results.
Engagement is key to a successful school year. I am confident that these tools will allow me to boost engagement throughout the year!”

Funded Sep 28, 2021Thank you for donating to our project.
This refrigerator will be used to preserve and keep items cold for science labs.
Several of our science experiments require cold water.
For example, when studying how temperature affects the diffusion of molecules and how external temperature might affect internal temperature.
Additionally, some of my labs require food items such as onions and milk.
The refrigerator will enable me to store these items in the classroom for the week.

Travel Lessons
Funded Sep 15, 2021This year, my students remain in their homeroom and I travel to different classrooms. It is important for me to continue teaching science skills through the use of lab materials such as beakers, triple beam balances and microscopes. Having the utility cart has allowed me to safely and more conveniently transport these materials from one classroom to the next.
The workbooks are already providing my students with essential information, strategies, vocabulary, and practice questions in order to pass the New York State Living Environment Regents. This has helped to support my instruction and will provide my students with the vocabulary to master key concepts in Biology.
Thank you so much for helping to make it happen!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Vega
