    SMART Notebook/Lumio is a desktop lesson creation and delivery software. In addition to providing tools for creating engaging presentation pages with text, images, and multimedia, LUMIO allows students to engage with interactive activities where they can sort vocabulary and engage in word matches.

    On Socrative, I am able to post questions that require students to practice their vocabulary and literacy skills as they relate to science. I am also able to quickly assess student understanding with prepared activities or on-the-fly questions, and then adjust my teaching based on the results. This platform greatly enhances the learning of my students because they are able to constantly review vocabulary and key concepts. Students are also given individualized feedback on their work so that they can learn from their errors.

  • Technology for Fitness

    Thank you for donating to my project; we were able to get pulse oximeters so that my students can test different exercises that affect pulse rate. Students designed their own experiment and worked in research teams to collect data and present findings to their colleagues. They compared their pulse rates taken manually with their pulse rates taken when using the pulse oximeter. They drew conclusions about the benefits of technology as well as exercises that best help to promote heart health.

    I am so very grateful for your generous donation to our classroom project!

    My students are constantly producing work on the computer in the form of essays, labs and presentations. With so much time and effort being put into their assignments, it always a rewarding experience to see their work displayed on the classroom and hallway bulletin boards.

    Having ink for our classroom printer allows my students instant access to print their work to be displayed. This helps to provide additional motivation and reward for their hard work.

    We are currently working on our Biology unit and exploring cells. Students have created cell models and took pictures of their work to display.”

    Microscopes help my students to better understand the living environment. Having this project fully funded will enable my students to practice lab skills relating to microscope work.

    Before students observe cells, students will practice using a microscope to observe something they are very familiar with - the letter e.

    In an era where college and career readiness is a prominent factor in the teaching and learning process, STEM education is becoming more and more important.

    I know that my students will achieve greater learning outcomes, given access to 21st-century tools and content that will encourage them to think deeply about studying health and life science concepts.

    Students tested five suspect substances to learn their physical and chemical properties. They then compared the properties of the Evidence Substance to the five suspect substances to find only ONE match. For example, students learned that vinegar can be used to differentiate between baking soda and baking powder.

    In an era where college and career readiness is a prominent factor in the teaching and learning process, STEM education is becoming more and more important.”

I teach a diverse range of 7th and 8th graders. I have students that require remediation as well as those that need enrichment. My students are incredibly motivated and persistent in their learning, especially in science.
