Applied Creativity

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your contribution to my classroom. I was able to get a beanbag chair and a 3D printer with filament. Let me tell you why and how this has been helpful.

I am a Special Education teacher teaching students who are generally able to progress in general education, but due to learning disabilities, autism, and/or ADHD, need Special Education services.

This has been an interesting year for most students. Whether we attribute it to the pandemic stress, lack of social functioning, or whatever, behaviors and anxiety have been significant. Especially for my 45 students, functionality has been a huge issue. Students struggle to function in class, engage to learn, and behave appropriately.

I've been able to do some cool things. The bean bag chair has been a good addition to my chill space where they do breathing exercise, tapping, or just chill.

The biggest thing has been the 3D printer. I have students working toward 3D prints, using good behavior, engagement, work completion, and emotional management. One of the best things we've printed has been fidget rings to help with attention and anxiety in class. I've been able to increase learning and support general education teachers with functionality.

Thank you! I'm so happy you chose me to help. This has been a great resource for me classroom.

My picture will not have students. We have privacy laws in Special Education. I'll take a picture of some of the cool things we've made for students. Just imagine great big smiles on their faces.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Tillman
