  • More than a Carpet, it's our Classroom's Heart!

    Funded Aug 28, 2024

I can not express the amount of joy and comfortability you have brought to my classroom every day! A classroom carpet really is the heart of a classroom and my students have loved the run since its unveiling on the second week of the school year. Previously I had an old donated carpet that simply wasn't comfortable nor did it add any vibrancy to my classroom decor. Now when students come together on the carpet for learning time they have their own designated smiley that represents their personal space, leading to less argument. Students have also enjoyed laying comfortably on the rug during their independent reading times, as well as, grabbing a clipboard to get their other learning jobs completed. Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Barr

  • Organized Learning Space

    Funded Aug 16, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom organization through the seat sacks for students desks! On the first day of school, students were able to select their own personal seat sack and luckily they all had access to a favorite color. So far students have been loving having their own place to store their favorite books they choose for independent reading time. They also use them as a place to hold math tools to easily access during learning times. The bright colors add a vibrancy to an otherwise dull learning space. Again, thank you for supporting my classroom!”

  • A Beautiful Classroom Library!

    Funded Jun 13, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom library. The images provided don't even do it justice! My students have been loving exploring the books in our classroom, selecting books that are just right for their interests, ability levels, and exploring different genres. It has been amazing to watch them take responsibility for keeping the book bins organized for other readers to find what they are looking for. The flexible seating has also allowed for students to comfortably find seating in and around the classroom library so they can truly be engaged in their reading time. My former students who visit me frequently are also excited and jealous about the new classroom upgrade!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Barr

  • Flexible Seating for 3rd Grade!

    Funded Jul 8, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classrooms' flexible seating project. One way that this has benefited my classroom this school year is students have many choices in where their learning can take place in the classroom. Another way is my students who have a difficult time sitting in a chair now have the flexibility of sitting on the floor using clipboards, working quietly in the hallway, or bringing a stool around to other areas where their learning needs can be met. Students quite enjoy finding a cozy corner where they can quietly read and now they have a little more comfort while they do it. This project will continue to benefit my students year after year.”

  • Games for Indoor Play!

    Funded Jan 15, 2023

Thank you so much for supporting our 3rd grade classroom. Even though winter did not see as much snow as normal, the rainy/cold days that kept us indoors for recess were thoroughly enjoyed. My students are absolutely loving learning new games and enjoying the classics with their close friends. I've been able to create some truly memorable moments such as teaching my students games that I loved as a child like Chinese checkers, perfection, chutes and ladders, and more! There's plenty of options so the children are not getting bored with each use. There's games for groups of friends or for my kiddos that prefer independent play. Again thank you so much for bringing many smiles to my room!”

    Ms. Barr

  • If You Give a 3rd Grader a book...

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I can't begin to explain the impact of your generosity. My students have been immersed into worlds of fantasy through the series Bad Guys, Zombie Goldfish, and The Last Kids on Earth. The students are often bargaining with one another for turn taking because they are so engaged in these series. There are quite a few children who have also convinced their parents to help them purchase the books in the series that we don't yet have because they can't wait to see what adventures the characters get into next. The mystery series has been super beneficial in building interest for our mystery reading unit.

At any point in the school day, even during math, students are begging for independent reading time so that they can get even just a few more pages in. These new texts have really helped me foster that love of learning for my 3rd grade students. It is every teachers dream to hear "can I read my book?" over "can I use my computer?"”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Barr

  • 3rd Graders Need A Table!

    Funded Jul 20, 2022

Thank you for your contributions to my classroom! So far this table has been the center point for so much learning in math, reading, and writing time! It is a focal point in our classroom for so many discussions and conversations. Every time my students are gathered together at the table it reminds me of the people that helped sponsor these moments and for that I am extremely grateful. The bulletin board paper and other decorative materials help make the dull white walls of my classroom so much more vibrant and welcoming. Thank you so much!”

  • Books, Tools, Supplies Oh My!

    Funded Aug 7, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. This year has been the most challenging in my professional career but seeing the students engage and be excited about learning, despite those challenges, make it all worthwhile!

The books have been the most exciting addition to my classroom. To aide in the understanding of persuasive writing, I used the two stories I Wanna Iguana and I Wanna New Room to show students how you need to convince someone of why your wants are important through great evidence and some creativity. They loved learning to write persuasive letters to family members, friends, the principal and more after learning through the main character. I have also gotten to use many of the texts for social emotional learning and character building; my students have participated in conversations about bullying, friendship, diversity, and so much more with the help of these mentor texts.

As you can see in the photographs, the sharpie tools, poster paper, cardstock, and ink allowed me to design bright, eye catching visuals for learning and tools to use for math. So again, thank you for making 20- 6 and 7 years old smile bright each day and be excited about learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Barr
