Our elementary school is 100% below the poverty level. These students are disadvantaged in many ways. However, the school does as much as they can to support each and every student in their own special way. The students are the main priority for all the staff in the school. My job is to work with the behaviorally at-risk students in the school in order to help them be more successful in the classroom. Although these students are of concern, they behave that way for a reason. Every person has their own story. These students just may have a more difficult time fighting their battles than others. Their experiences are what have caused them to behave that way. In order to help the these students, my position was created. The students are definitely challenging at times. However, when they succeed, they take much pride in themselves. In return, they make the job so rewarding.
