  • Mixing It Up- Instrument and Book Activities

    Funded Apr 1, 2025

I am so excited that our project was funded today. My students love books and music and I can’t wait to read these stories to them. I’ll be sure to share pictures of my class and our project with you soon. This would not have been possible without your generous donation.”

  • Everyone Loves a Musical Story

    Funded Oct 6, 2024

My favorite book from this project was "Where the Wild Things Are" and "The Noisy Paint Box: The Colors and Sounds of Kandinsky's Abstract Art." I used Where the Wild Things Are and taught the students several songs that tied into the book like Pease Porridge Hot and The King of the Mountain. The kids loved turning this book into a mini-play. For the book The Noisy Paint Box, I showed students the link between music and art. Students learned about the famous artist Kandinsky and his artwork. Students each made an abstract circle to mimic his painting Color Study—squares with Concentric Circles. I then put all of the student's circles into a collage. I am planning to make more connections between music and art.

My students also loved the Barefoot books Earth Song, Boogie in the Bronx!, and Rooftop Garden. All of the songs were fun to sing and had catchy tunes. I am so grateful that I got to share these books with my students. This would not have been possible without your generous donation. Thank you so much!”

  • Making Shirts for Our School

    Funded Oct 10, 2023

This project allowed me to purchase and design digital files and make shirts for our school. After printing the design on a transfer, we applied the adhesive backing. Then, we used a heat press to put the designs on t-shirts. Your donation has allowed us to make shirts for the basketball team, student council, staff, and choir. I will share pictures of several of the designs, as well as the steps we took while making the projects, and a finished shirt with the design. Thank you so much for your donation and helping us bring this project to life. I am so excited to keep using these supplies for future designs. We couldn't have done this without your generous donation.”

  • Elevating Student Art Designs!

    Funded Oct 10, 2023

This project allowed me to teach my students how to create art and turn their art into digital files. We then took the files and printed them out on transfers. The next step was to apply the adhesive backing onto the transfer. We then used a heat press to put the designs on canvas bags and t-shirts. Students were able to bring their designs to life with vibrant colors and exceptional detail, create personalized items, and explore new avenues of creativity by printing on several different fabric materials. Your donation empowered students with a creative outlet while also introducing them to the technology that is increasingly used in the art industry. The pictures show several designs made by students as well as the steps we took while making the projects, and some finished tote bags with the designs. Thank you so much for your donation and helping us bring this project to life.”

  • Improve Student Motivation and Learning

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our project. I was able to research ways students learn and put some of those best practices into action. I am now trying more of a workshop format for my theatre class. Students design different elements for our plays and musicals and the students get to see their work on stage.

Right now we are working on the play Everyone Get Eaten By Sharks. Students are going to be working on the set, props, costumes, makeup, lightening, and sound for the play. I wouldn't have been able to apply these ideas without this project being funded. Thank you so much for your help!”

  • Everyone Loves a Musical Story

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

My favorite book from this project was "Lift Every Voice and Sing." This song is ofter referred to as The Black National Anthem. It was first performed in public in Jacksonville, Florida to celebrate President Abraham Lincoln's birthday. I got to share the beautiful illistrations of the book as well as the history of the music with my students.

The fingerlights were used during the 2nd and 3rd grade music program. Students put three fingerlights on each hand. Then we put the Peer Gynt In the Hall of the Mountain King music on. During the song, my students repeated a body percussion pattern movement. With the lights in the auditorium off it looked spectacular and was truly a music program showstopper.

This would not have been possible without your generous donation. Thank you so much!”

  • Mystery Student Prizes

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for funding our project. I was able to award mystery student prizes all year. I always gave students the choice of mints or starbursts at the end of each elementary class period. I used the animal erasers, stickers, and other prizes with my middle school students after we play games at the end of units.

The students really liked the wide variety of prizes, the ability to earn prizes and/or candy. Students earned 1-3 prizes throughout the year and it was always a mystery. Thank you again for funding our project!”
