Increase Reading Readiness

Thank you so much for the new learning materials from Lakeshore Learning. My students were so excited when I opened both boxes from Lakeshore and they saw all of the awesome new hands-on learning games. My students have loved using the phonemic/phonological and alphabet awareness games with me during small group time and during independent practice.

Alphabet Games: My students have been using the alphabet games to solidify their alphabet knowledge. I have really enjoyed using the alphabet tubs each day to review a few letters of the alphabet. My students have had a great time using the alphabet locks to match the lowercase and capital letters as well as the letter sounds. They have also loved using the alphabet fishing game to match the capital and lowercase letters. As of right now, 38/41 students have mastered the alphabet and I know that using these resources has been a huge help.

Phonological/Phonemic Awareness Games: I have really loved using the phonological and phonemic awareness games during my small group teacher table. Since receiving these games, my students have been mastering their phonological skills. My students loved using the snap build cvc words to help listen for sounds in words. They have also loved using the vowel sounds magnetic sorting tiles to help them sort words with different vowel sounds.

My students were recently given the Adacience Reading end of year assessment and 38/41 of my students made a significant amount of progress, YAY! My students have been working so hard to master these early reading skills during small group time and through independent practice. I know that the materials that I received through the USBE and donors choose played an extremely helpful roll in helping my students meet their pathway of progress.

Once again, thank you for the amazing learning materials. These learning materials will benefit so many kindergarten students for many years to come.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Bergera
