Gather 'Round for Reading
Funded Aug 22, 2018The dry-erase kidney table has been such a wonderful addition to our classroom. My students are so excited to work in small groups using our new table for guided reading and word work. My students were thrilled when they walked into the classroom and saw our brand new table! As I began to take small groups for guided reading, one student specifically said, "Ms. McCarthy - this is so much fun! We can actually practice writing our sight words on the table while you are working with other students."
We are so thankful that our project was funded. I am excited to continue my small group and one on one instruction with students at their specific levels in our classroom during reading, writing, and math. Thank you to all who donated!”
With gratitude,
Ms. McCarthy
This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 8 other donors.Readers Today, Leaders Tomorrow
Funded Jan 29, 2018We are so grateful for the leveled texts that were funded for our classroom library. Now, my students are able to experience authentic guided reading groups and independent reading because they have books at their appropriate reading levels. I am able to spend more time pulling small groups of students in order to truly meet their needs as readers. The leveled library books allow me to teach specific skills as my students grow as readers. For example, my students are challenged to find sight words in text; they are able to practice reading fluently, and their love for reading grows each day as they have a wide variety of books to choose from.
If you walk into my classroom during centers time, you will see students engaged reading independently, with a partner, or in a small group, all thanks to the funding of my project - all thanks to the donors who contributed! All of my students are enjoying the new books in their own way.
Thank you so much for your contribution!”

Ms. McCarthy
Big Hearts Shaping Little Minds
Funded Dec 13, 2015I am so grateful for all of your generous donations. My students were able to receive 3 brand new i-pads and cases in our classroom and they couldn't have been more excited! Technology in the classroom is such an integral part of learning. My students are able to access math and literacy apps to enhance their learning and meet their individualized needs. My students are able to work independently using the technology which allows me to have more time with small groups and one on one instruction. I cannot express how much your donations were appreciated! Thank you so much!”
