  • Bee Bots and Botley for Social Engagement!

    Funded Aug 25, 2022

My students have been having so much fun exploring 'coding' with Botley and Bee Bot! These products are bringing so much fun and engagement to our "Clubhouse" sessions. The children are learning about coding while working collaboratively, problem solving, taking perspective of others, taking turns, helping each other, assessing situations and having fun!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donations that have brought these coding items to us!

Knowing that you care about children enough to make a donation means the world to us!

    Much love always.”

    With gratitude,

  • Document Camera!

    Funded Sep 30, 2020

Thank you to all the donors who have contributed to help fund the purchase of the document camera! During these crazy remote learning times , I have been able to scan so many wonderful books to share virtually with my students. I had tried holding up the hardcopy of the book, but unfortunately not all the children cou”

  • The Importance of Social and Emotional Learning!

    Funded Aug 31, 2020

With our world in a strange and unpredictable place, children are showing signs of confusion, loneliness and a disconnect from their peers. The pandemic, political unrest and a division of beliefs and opinions have taken a toll on the children (and adults) this year more so than ever before.

Providing the children with resources that encourage the discussion of feelings, and the understanding of differences; whether it be cultural, emotional, political , religious etc, helps the children to better understand their own situation and feelings .

Children will often 'open up' and discuss their feelings if they know that others may be having similar thoughts. Reading these books to the children has opened up a plethora of discussions on opinions, differences, emotions, and difficulties that they are feeling right now.

I want to thank each one of you for donating to help me provide my students with an opening....an opening that allows them the freedom of speech in our classroom...to talk about what they are struggling with.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Terri's Clubhouse

  • Teletherapy Resources

    Funded May 12, 2020

My school went fully remote in March 2020. As a Speech Therapist who works with children with autism and leads social groups virtually, I have encountered many challenges. Having a monitor, a new laptop and head phones have helped me provide online resources to the groups where I can easily share my screen, even when I have so many open tabs! The head phones have made the audio clearer for my students and for myself. With distractions around, the headphones help to keep focus. My plan was to use this equipment at the school building for the 2020-2021 school year. Unfortunately, my school opened for two weeks and was shut down due to being in the same proximity as a red zone neighborhood, meaning there were significant numbers of covid outbreaks. My school has been working 100% remotely since. There is no word on when we will return to the building. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for all the donors who contributed to funding these materials for me. I am blessed !”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Terri's Clubhouse

Working from home, with no clear dates of when we will return to the school building, has proven to be overwhelming and has brought upon so many learning challenges as well as tech challenges. Providing therapy via video conferencing has made me research new ways to provide collaborative projects via the screen to my kids to help them work on their social pragmatic skills. Screen sharing work is not possible on some platforms or devices issued by the DOE. Having an updated computer and additional monitor will help me to be able to see the students while presenting them with our 'project' on the other. A headset helps to alleviate the echo which is caused by all the different locations we sign on from, which in turn help my kids to focus better.
