Help Foster the Love of Reading!
Funded Nov 17, 2024The books that you donated to our classroom are making an impact! Our current reading program is great, but our students mainly get exposure to excerpts of longer works of literature.
Having an opportunity to read and share a full length novel and have meaningful conversations around reading is what makes the love of reading take place.
Literature circles, sometimes called Book Clubs in class, give kids a chance to fall in love with the stories, the characters. It gives them opportunities to reflect and develop strategies that make them want to read even when they don't have to!
The four selections that you were kind enough to donate and contribute to us are all very engaging stories and we are enjoying them immensely!”

An iPad for My Scholars!
Funded Dec 4, 2019This is BEYOND exciting! This IPAD will open up so many new opportunities for learning in our classroom. We have just opened it and when we did....a room full of smiles and ideas and oooohs and aaaaahs. Also lots of conversation about generosity, kindness, and the magic of giving.
We plan to use this device mostly for videotaping presentations from book reviews to STEM group work. The possibilities are endless and we can't wait to see what the future holds .
Thank you so much for being a part of our learning this year.”

Funded Aug 13, 2019Each morning, and throughout the day, this beautiful, colorful space is used by the most wonderful, kind group of fourth graders. We start each day with a meeting that is designed to build community, relationships, give each child a chance to share about their life. We also laugh a lot during morning meeting.
We start with a greeting. It's here that these kids are learning and developing social skills they'll use throughout life. They learn the value of a firm handshake and how to give a sincere compliment, and they develop conversational skills that will benefit them throughout adulthood.
This space serves another important purpose-it offers flexible seating. They often ask to work on the rug. They always can as long as they are working. I find that sitting in a desk all day is hard for everyone!
So this gift is bringing so much to our learning. We are forever grateful for your kindness.”

Funded Jun 20, 2019Your generosity has not only made it possible for more of my students to access technology for their learning, but it has also given us the chance to consider and have meaningful discussions about kindness and generosity. The impact that you have and will continue to have is profound. My students and I hope that the good you do comes back to you.
Thank you for believing in us and inspiring these wonderful, inquisitive kids to think beyond what is possible or believable!
Your generous gift will be taken good care of and used for many exciting projects this year and in the future with even more kids.”

Funded May 7, 2019Bit by bit we are adding to our supply of chromebooks in A315, and we have you to thank! We currently have 8 brand new chromebooks and a beautiful locked charging station to keep them safe and in perfect condition.
These devices are so helpful in all areas of the curriculum, but especially with my young writers. As they move through the writing process from pre-writing, to editing, to publishing they are growing in so many ways. Some children struggle with pencil and paper. Chromebooks give these kids the boost they need to feel successful getting their thoughts on the page.
Your kindness will never be forgotten!”

Funded Feb 1, 2019We now have our chrome book cart set up and keeping our devices safe and charged. The thing I keep going back to is the response from my students when they learned of your gift. These kids have been the recipients of your kindness and generosity, not once, but twice! This brought about so many conversations about doing good in the world and how it affects other people.
When our custodian saw the package, he quickly went to work over the weekend and set it up so that we could use it as soon as we could. That's the kind of school we have!
Finally, your commitment to children and their education inspires me.
You will never truly know how fortunate we feel.
Thank you so very much!”

Chromebooks for Young Authors!
Funded Sep 2, 2018The day I told my students of your generous gift, many of them jumped out of their seats in delight! So many of them were astounded at the thought that people they have never met could care so much about their learning. You have not only helped them in their day to day classwork, helping them access tools for learning, but you have INSPIRED them to think of ways that they can do something for someone else.
The impact of your gift is tremendous. They are using this technology daily in literacy and math centers. But it is more than this. Many of them are inspired to help other people, even people they have never met. All because you did this! This is a lesson that can only be taught through experience. I cannot wait for them to experience the feeling of paying it forward.
Thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts,
Tracey Viselli and class”
