  • Starting Off On Time With a Classroom Timer

    Funded Oct 29, 2024

Your donation helped our classroom get some needed supplies. Our classroom timer helps students get their classwork done on time. Students are able to see how much time they have to complete an activity and they can better use their time to complete their work. Students are able to keep their work in nice folders and can easily find work that they need to finish, bring home or save.

The laminating pouches keep our work in the hallway protected. We also did a special Thanksgiving day project with the laminating pouches and made our own balloons and had a Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in our school.

My students have used the supplies to aid in their learning and are having fun.

Thank you very much for supporting us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kilmain Patriquin

  • Classroom Storage to help keep Supplies Readily Available

    Funded Jul 16, 2024

The clear plastic bins fit all my math manipulatives in. Students can easily pull out the bin they need to help them solve math problems. It has been a help with students being able to independently find the materials they need and then do their work.

The construction paper organizer helps with our art projects. We Just made puppets and the students were able to find the supplies they needed because everything was well organized.

Thank you very much for supporting my classroom. My students and I are well organized because of your generous donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kilmain Patriquin

  • Learning Through Games

    Funded Feb 6, 2024

My students love learning through games. It has been so fun to watch them learn the skills and then be able to use those skills in the games we purchased to reinforce their learning. Students have been able to set up games and explain what they have learned. They learn how to play with others and have had to learn patience in waiting their turn and grace when someone else wins. They work on teamwork and being supportive of others.

Playing games makes learning fun and sometimes they do not even realize they are learning something new until later when they say "I know how to do that because I do that in the game we play."

We apprieciate your support in helping build our supplies in learning tools for our classroom.

Thank you so much for donating to our class project.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kilmain Patriquin

  • Backpack and Coat Storage

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

My students were so excited to see this cart being put together and couldn't wait to hang up their backpacks and coats. This has helped students keep their backpacks up off the floor or off the backs of their seats.

Students enjoy having a spot that they know where their stuff goes. They are the envy of other classes that walk by and see our "cool" backpack rack!

Thank you so much for supporting my class and students. My students are very appreciative and are excited to come into class in the morning and hang up their bags.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kilmain Patriquin

  • I Am Ready to Hear!

    Funded Jun 21, 2023

The headphones that my class received were so appreciated. The beginning of the school year is full of benchmark tests that the students need to complete. Having working headphones with microphones made testing so much easier. So many times in the past the tests had to be given multiple times because the microphones did not work and the students test scores were not recorded properly. This school year has started off great thanks to you supporting our classroom!

My students really enjoy listening to stories read aloud and recording themselves reading stories and your donation made it possible for them to have working headphones.”

  • Theme Day Art supplies. Showing Off Our Culture and uniqueness.

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for donating to our classroom. With the construction paper and paint in shades of our skin colors we were able to do our autobiography projects more realistic to how we look. We had a great time learning about everyone's cultures and traditions and found out how we are all alike and different. We were able to create other art projects throughout the school year with your generous donations. We are a creative group and the hands on projects bring our learning to life. We have enjoyed our art supplies and thank you again for supporting us.”

  • Creative Literacy Projects Made With an iPad

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for your donation of an iPad for my class. My students have enjoyed bringing their stories to life. We have made movies and done research for our black history reports.

They enjoy drawing and using many apps that they can not access on our Chromebooks.

Your generosity has helped us be very creative in our presentations.

My second grade students have written some great poems and are working on their autobiographies. We are using the iPads we have in a station and having multiple iPads makes them accessible to more students.”

  • Books on Rocks and Water Cycle

    Funded Nov 10, 2022

Our books on the water cycle and rocks has helped us in our learning about the Earth. We studied about erosion and the water cycle. We are working on ways to be better to our planet. How we need to take care of our Earth. We are learning about where the water in our neighborhood goes. We have explored the sewers and are learning how to keep pollution out of water.

My students were so excited with all the books we were able to read about the water cycle. We have been working on posters and are presenting to the first graders all we have learned.”

  • Bring Multi-Cultural Art Supplies into the Classroom

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you for donating to our class. My students were excited to have the art materials to create their projects. Having multicultural paint and paper helped them create a paper mache replica of themselves. We used a balloon and then covered it with newspaper and glue mixture to make a hard circle head. After it was dried we were able to use our skin colored paints and paint them to look like ourselves. We had the contruction paper available to use as hair. We also used yarn and other craft supplies to make our models. We have a few more projects to complete this year with the supplies that you helped fund.

Thank you again for all your support.”

  • Exploring Science

    Funded Jul 13, 2022

Thank you for supporting my students with Science materials. My students love using the magnifying glasses to look closer at insects, plants, and objects around the classroom. They are excited to see things up close and have had fun finding all the insects and comparing their parts. They have noticed the eyes, wings, body parts and antenna.

Our unit of study now is Wind, Water and Forces of Nature. The Landforms and Erosion kit will be used to help learn about about these topics. We will be able to make a mold and test out how wind and water change landforms.

Thank you again for bringing these science materials to my classroom and my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kilmain Patriquin

For the past 2 years the second grade students have listened to stories read to them by the teacher or listened to them read by a youtube video. The books, Mufaro's Beautiful daughters , Yeh-Shen and the Rough Face Girl are books that the children love to read and tell how they know that each character shows the charateristics of a Cinderella. We look at the characteristics of each Cinderella around the world. We pick a country and learn all about that country. We do a learning walk with the other 2nd grade classrooms at our school and learn about the countries those classrooms learned about. We have a passport and get a stamp after we have visited each of the other 5 classrooms also doing the unit. To have books that the children you actually hold and read and look for evidence to prove their thoughts would be amazing. To only see the book on a screen and read by someone on the internet does not let the children experience the book for themselves. I would love for my students to be able to have this resource right in our classroom.
